the male psyche: A man likes to be seen as the protector, somebody strong and dependable.

Males are stronger physically than Females on average.

Most men wouldn't want to be seen as physically smaller than their GF or wife, it's not the norm.

The question is why height preferences exist. The evidence suggests that height preferences in our society are socially constructed. They lead people to conform to traditional gender roles. This makes them sexist. I don't take such a hard line that I believe it makes any of you sexists. Although I do believe that your preferences would be much less likely to exist if never exposed to social conditioning.

whoa there, just because I like to be taller and bigger than the girl I am with does not mean I want to beat and rape her, you are making a pretty big leap there.

IME women like to feel safe when they are with someone, this is easily accomplished when the man is bigger than they are, so by dating a more petite woman I can make her feel good just because I are tall.

Plus I like being able to toss them around in bed because that fun. I don't think it would be as fun to climb up on top of a 6'4'' 225lb linebacker of a woman and it has nothing to do with my ability to physically dominate either of them.
