Re: The question of the day thread

well, having my hand glued to my bits would make it damned difficult to a lot of things.

having my crack welded shut would likely kill me at some point.

i'll go with chicken heart w/ fingers. hold the fries.

Re: The question of the day thread

QOTD HIV+

You are a family man with a loving hot wife and 2 great kids. Life is good. Your throwing a pool party and your friend brought with him a kid you know is HIV+. No one knows this but yourself and that friend. You know that in scientific studies that shaking hands and everyday routine does not pass on the virus.

Do you let the kid in the pool or treat him differently? Do you let them stay or ask them to leave? Lets add nothing bad will happen like a cut finger or a bloody nose will occur with the HIV+ kid. Just normal stuff, maybe sharing drinks, double dipping the dip, swimming communally, prob a runny nose due to the water activities, etc.

What ever your answer is, pls elaborate.

I'd let the friend decide what to do with his kid because it's his responsibility. I won't touch anything the kid touches though.

Of course you let them stay, swim in the pool and do other casual stuff. Keep it for yourself as long as nothing "bad" involving his blood coming out happens. Then you let people know, ask them to stay away and try to do your best to get **** sorted out.

And get yourself ****ing informed. HIV does not spread with saliva, nor coughing or sneezing. Its about blood, semen and vaginal fluid interfering.

Re: The question of the day thread

OMG. I feel an honest reply is coming...

Wow I strangely feel like such a douche saying this, but having my own wife and kids there would put me in a uber protective state-of-mind. I know that sweat and shaking hands, etc is not contagious but I think sub-consciously, I wouldn't be able to relax with HIV+ in the direct vicinity of my loved ones. I'd probably rush them to hospital for a whole bunch of tests if he/ she got in the same pool as my family!

Call me an ignorant, facist A-Hole but considering the people I love and care about the most would be there, I would probably ask HIV+ to leave as I wouldn't risk their health...

And biceps, wouldn't you say that letting other people know about his illness would make him feel exposed, under the spotlight, etc and alienated? That (I think) is more cruel on HIV+ than to politely and respectfully (privately) ask him to leave. But its difficult regardless...

Read my post better. I already stated that. Why do you think my qotd is said in that particular way. It is human nature to still want to keep a distance from this disease esp when loved ones are concerned and that is what this qotd is about.

Also your remark about telling people is improper imo. You let the HIV stay but than you tell people and for them to stay away? wtf. The kid will feel even worst than if the friend had a sudden emergency and they had to leave.

You only let people know when something bad happens.
And btw, he has HIV. If anyone, he knows how it is to be exposed and has thus learned, or is in a process of learning how to deal with it. And I dont believe you sincerely think its more cruel to deprive him of having fun, hanging out, etc then get him exposed after the red stuff has come out.

I'd have to agree that avoiding will be in your subconsciousness, but you can beat that ****. If this is whats the QOTDs point, I suggest everyone to read Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell.

He's a kid. Let him play. Everyone is going to be fine.

Can't remember the last paper I read saying "HIV spread by letting a kid swim with another kid"

Re: The question of the day thread

I haven't got a wife or kids so I can't imagine what it would feel like to have a protective bond for them. **** them, I'll cut the kid up and let him bleed into their mouths.

It ain't a real pool party without child sacrifice and blood drinking.

Re: The question of the day thread

Dude. This topic goes into so many tangents. Not going to get into it. The question is out there for people respond.

As for me. I am well educated and well informed about the virus. This actually happened to me in VN. I bought this kiddie pool for the kids to play in. My neighbor has a kid who is HIV+. she gets treated kinda differently because of it. People in VN are mostly ignorant. I try to treat her better than I treat other kids around to make her life more enjoyable. I give her treats way more often than I do others, joke and play with her as she doesnt have a lot of friends.

Anyway, when it came time when the kids were playing in the pool and she wondered over...all this was in front of me now. I let her play in the pool, by herself though. than emptied it, rinsed it and refilled it again for the other kids. I know this is unfair but is it unfair for the other kids? I know its not transmittable in water. The main reason why it was so troubling for me was because as scientific as I am, you never know. Things are dis-proven all the time what we once believed to be the case. Even recent things. This was my reason for doing what I did.

I am in the process of building a pool and this will be a situation for me. If you can convince me to change my thinking, cool. I aint going to empty a huge pool for her though. Im a douche and its unfair. Life isnt fair. I also have responsibility to others.

Re: The question of the day thread

just keep HIV+ away from my porn stash... and like HAP says, i'm not touching anything after him/her.

i'd be extremely worried, even though i know nothing is going to happen... i suppose covering my own children in giant rubbers wont help?

Huge mistake. Emptying the pool, on the lawn no doubt? Now your lawn has super aids and will spread to all your other plants. Soon it will infiltrate the house and you will all get it.

Things are disproven. Better not hang out with a gay guy as it might actually be possible to catch the gay.

Then you will have Aids and be gay.

But the good news is you and your family won't have to live to long dealing with it...

That's actually pretty win, then when she says "Sarah, Michael; get out of the pool", you can do "that face" behind her back, which symbolises "this is what happens when we give women equal rights".
