MNOWAX you continue to amaze me. I didn't make a single value judgment on the song (which is nearly a year old, but whatever), I'm pointing out that you genuinely don't understand the genres involved in the least. Close 2p2, go to beatport.com and click through the genres. You should start with "Progressive House" and just listen through the top 20 and jot down what you like. Then maybe use that to expand to those artists that you liked and check out their other stuff. Wash rinse repeat for a month. If you haven't heard "Silhouettes," ESPECIALLY given your tastes, then you've been living in a cave. Step out into the light.

you sound like me in this thread 2 years ago, many of you have come a long way.

MNOWAX, I have to agree with sam here. Another approach is to search beatport by label. Toolroom, Size and Hotfingers would be 3 that would probably work for you.

Also, if you can't take some trolling you probably shouldn't post in a BBV4L thread. I think people forget this is BBV4L.

I believe I told MNOWAX the same thing 6 months ago. Beatport should be the beginning of the rabbit hole for everyone.

EDM is like a fractal of almost infinite sounds and possibilities. The amount of new music I've heard in the past 2 months is astounding. It never stops, there's always more and more.

Off topic but I saw Radiohead last night. Was ****ing insane, and to be honest, at times it felt more like a rave than a rock concert. They smashed loads of songs from their last 3 album which obviously has a dance feel as well as a sick light show and great sound

TR time!

Jochen Miller - caught about the last 40 mins of his set or so, really didn't impress me much. I've heard a bunch of his live sets before and he was pretty good, but was just straight trouse and big room house tunes the entire time. Alot of Alesso / Dirty South sounding tracks. Volume was pretty low at the time too so that might have taken away from the effect. He had a really early slot (9:15-10:30), I think he'd do better on a standalone night, but he opens for Armin pretty consistently so I guess they have a bit of a rapport - he gets the trousey stuff out of the way to pave the road for more uplifting stuff.

Cosmic Gate - about the same as every other time that I've seen them, it really seems like Nic Chagall has only 1 short (pink/red one) and one army hat since I've seen him wear the same combo 3 times in the past year. The guys are always energetic and play all of their popular stuff (Be Your Sound, The Theme, Exploration of Space, Over The Rainbow, Wild & Perfect Day)... they played Find Yourself which is always nice to hear as well. Solid, but nothing special.

Armin van Buuren - was expecting quite a bit more trouse from him, but he came out pretty much guns-a-blazing. Very similar to his closing set at privilege (can be heard as ASOT 580 as well), first few tracks were fairly similar, and the only really 'trousey' songs were W&W - Moscow and the Maisen & Dragen remix of We Are Here To Make Some Noise Spectrum and The Fusion. Quite a few tracks from UR 6 such as I'll Listen (really solid tune IMO), Fire Island, Fortuna, Perpetual Motion, Elveda and a couple of other ones.

I was hoping to hear What's Wrong and Headliner which have been staples in his set but he cut them out that night. He played his usual mashups (Burned with Desire, Fine Without You Now, the Thriller / Status Excessu D one) level was really high overall, with only a few weaker vocal tracks. He played Shivers which I haven't heard him drop in years (the original mix too, not the M.O.R.P.H. remix) - which was pretty neat. The Orjan Nilsen remix of Universal Nation and the Sneijder remix of Sunspot were both solid reworks of classics to hear as well. Overall I was happy with what we got from him, I didn't really like his sound in 2011, but I think hes a bit more back on track this year.

The reviews I've read of his set at the Guv on saturday are pretty stellar aside from the obvious canned-sardines comparison from it being overcrowded til ~3:30 or so but I'm really jealous of his 5 hour set there! Its hard for a popular DJ to really play much in a 2 hour set aside from what the crowd wants to hear, but a longer set really allows for a bit of creativity and allows for a set to have proper builds and peaks. I'm gonna keep an eye on his schedule over the next little while and hopefully make a trip or two to catch him playing an extended set, noone can bring a smile to my face like AvB - its a combination of the familiarity of his sets, his flawless mixing, and his overall stage presence.

Over the next few weeks I have Calvin Harris (lol?), Markus & Arnej, and Myon & Shane 54. I had tickets for Tiesto (also lol) at halloween but he postponed everything from October due to health issues and they replaced it with one of the worst & most overpriced shows I've ever heard: $45 for Showtek and Tritonal - what a terrible mix!

great TR DM, I may try and find some tickets for next saturday to see Armin and PvD at the Warehouse Project in manchester, both Markus Schulz and Arty are playing it too. Fwiw, I would say that The Fusion is completely trance and not trouse, despite it being 128.

Next weekend I'm heading back home to london for an event called The Energy Box for one of the best 140 nights going. Headliners include Arctic Moon, Indecent Noise and Mnuel Le Saux. A few of my friends are playing earlier on the bill too so it's sure to be an amazing night.

You should get a ticket and make the trip to scream. Pure was amazing, and I'm thinking that scream will be better!

I'm going to calvin Harris too.
