godfather is one of the few times that movie > book. the book was meh and had some silly plotlines imo. also the vito corleone backstory that's in II is from the book, so II is like 40% based on the book, 60% new stuff. and the vito backstory in II is pretty much the greatest thing ever.

Also, one thing I've never got is - does the Senator kill the hooker or is that Hagan et al? Oh, and it was only on the last viewing I realized Johnny Ola is Carmine 'Junior' Soprano.

There's nothing definitive, but you see Al Neri in the scene so it's pretty likely that he's the one who did it. Al Neri ain't nothin to **** with imo.
