So if it's not a special occasion you find it more romantic to get flowers out of the blue but if it is a special occasion you do not find it more romantic to get them out of the blue? It confuses me a bit, because I don't see how it's possible to get them out of the blue on a special occasion.

Flowers out of the blue are always nice, not so much for something where one traditionally gives flowers, although they're better than nothing.

Sorry to clarify on special occasions birthdays,vday,etc..... men always give roses so that is not out of the blue just sort of expected. I prefer a man who doesn't do it because it's expected of him, but who just does it of his own accord on a thursday night just because.

Nah, it's definitely nice, but a little weird if you're not expecting it. First time I got that was in high school, and I thought it was a couple of buddies setting me up as a laugh, so I almost threw it away.
