I remember AOL without a Buddy List....

Because I had a mac, I couldn't upgrade right away, and I had all my friends hand written down and had to click "Find Member" and put in everybody's name to IM them....



This mught be like 99-02 but I remember everybody had a lanyard for their keys... I think adidas started it it with " ADIDAS |||"

And on Compuserve, your email was just a sting of numbers [327378394@compuserve.com]. I remember switching to AOL and thinking this was like heaven. "Look! I can have an actual name!"

Then you had the joy of paying for access by the minute, and that was even when you could get on the dial-up. When AOL went to unlimited usage, the system basically crashed for 3 days (at least in NYC) because no-one ever logged off until they timed out.

Early 90's, there was no Yahoo or Google. If you wanted to go to a site on the World Wide Web (which is what we called it, when it wasn't the "Information Superhighway" lol) you had to know the address.

Being so smart, you would constantly get pissed at people who thought AOL "was the internet".

Whenever a newscaster was giving you a website address it was always "....go to h, t, t, p, colon, slash, slash, w, w, w, dot........"

It's not the 90's but it's the 80's and these kicked ass!
