Just had to get this out and see what anyone thinks, my dad just got into an argument with me b/c I successfully (?) negotiated the sale of a used trailer down from $1500 to $1200.
He says that I should have lowballed the **** out of the guy, and offered him $1000 or less to begin with. This was a craigslist ad.........seriously who is going to offer that low when the guy said he wants $1500 b/c he paid $2000 new less than a year ago?
Am I being soft here? Or do I just realize an extreme lowballing when I see it and refuse to even make the attempt?
If your first offer was $1,200 and you ended up at $1,200, you did well to get your offering price but probably left money on the table. I probably would have offered $1k to start. Gotta take a shot.
I went to a summer camp in middle school that was three weeks long. We stayed in college dorms and had to use the washers/dryers which cost 75 cents each. No one ever had enough quarters, except one guy who brought a ton and three quarters for a dollar. I think he made like five bucks at camp.

when i was like 13 years old me and my friend would prank call ads in the newspapers. I remember one time there was an ad for a stereo that said $500. I said "I'll give you fifty bucks" and we were lol'ing to ourselves. The woman said she'd have to ask her husband. She called us back and said ok we'll take $50. I was like wtf. If i had $50 at that time i prob wouldve bought whatever the hell it was. lowballing works sometimes.
