mused01, I agree 100%. LOL. some people put the bar a little high. terms get thrown around like "genius", "savant", "sheltered?" <-- LOL! Most of those terms are flattering but not at all accurate. I have to work very hard to get my stuff to sound like I want it to. If I'm lucky enough to have the time, sometimes I'll spend 3 hrs trying to get a good sound out of a 4 bar loop I'm making. Sometimes I don't even have anything to show for it! And I'm a stones throw away from people who are more technically skilled than me.
the purpose of music though, in most situations, should be to have fun with it. that's what I like to share in my youtube vids. not to say sometimes it won't feel like work (all art feels like work sometimes). but overall, I think people expect too much out of their own music, therefore they don't even try, therefore they miss out on the fun of just playing simple stuff. simply music can be a BLAST. I don't care if you're just poking at the keys randomly trying to make a melody - that can be fun. Put the headphones on if you have to. LOL
Anywho, thanks again for all the awesome and kind words. If you're reading this far into the post, I REALLY appreciate your interest in my music!!!!
Gotta get back to making some beats. Hope to post a new vid next week.

keep up the great work RJ! i played some of your stuff at work today and at least one guy i know got all excited about music again because of you. you are an inspiration to say the least.
