So why is our non-firearm murder rate double that of yours. Don't you think the same reason for this is the reason for our higher gun crime rate as well? In Switzerland, Norway, Finland and Canada they have similar rates of households with guns but the same low violent crime rate as you. Explain this discrepancy.

It's been explained. A lot of those countries have mandatory firearms for members of the army.

Also, in the USA there is a culture and mentality that "It's my mother****ing right to own and use a gun", which propagates usage and lifts the murder rate.

I think it would also be interesting to find out how many "deaths caused by police with firearms" occur per year and then add these stats to the murder stats for each country. I think this would put the USA even further ahead of other countries in terms of "overall deaths caused by guns".

Do you realize that the USA has same murder rate as the world average? So some countries have less murders and some have more. The USA has an average murder rate compared to the rest of the world.

Compare the USA to other countries with ethnic tensions, the USA has a pretty low rate. Compared to Western Europe and the Commonwealth countries, it does not. Compared to other countries in America, with the exception of Canada, ours is less.

Another thing to keep in mind that around 1/2 of gun owners in the USA would rather die than give up their guns. Since about 1/2 of people have guns, you are looking at killing 1/4 of the population if you want to get rid of guns. It is just like a commie to want to commit mass murder. A shooting here and there is small potatoes compared to the mass killings done by socialist governments.

hunting rifles are quite a far cry from a semi-automatic pistol or an automatic rifle (and I believe you guys have access to those).

people have hunting rifles in australia, and they don't often go on shooting sprees. this is because hunting rifles are designed to bring down big animals from a distance, not to take on lots of people at once.
