By this I mean bones of your own, not other peoples. Other peoples bones don't count. Fractures do.

I have broken 6 bones. I had a spiral fracture of the tibia back in the 80's while I was "Break-dancing" on a shag carpet; the tread of my shoe bound up in the nap of the rug and my foot stopped moving while the rest of me continued to rotate. If you ever wondered why it was called "Break-dancing," this is why. For those of you too young to know what a shag carpet was, google is your friend. It was a thing back then.

I broke the other 5 all at once, when I was on a scaffold that collapsed due to a snapped cotter pin and dumped me 25 feet onto a marble patio. Normally I would make some funny or ironic comment here, but it was actually an extremely gruesome and life changing experience involving open fractures, surgeries, insurance squabbles and a lengthy hospital stay. Even now 15 years later I fail to find any humor in it, so.

A year and a half ago I was playing basketball. After a point was scored, I was jogging/walking backwards towards the other basket and fell for no reason. I put out my hands to break my fall and broke my right wrist (scaphoid bone). I'm right handed

I spent 6 weeks in a cast and then 6 more in a splint/brace, but now I'm all normal. The cast held my thumb and wrist in place, so it was impossible to grab anything small, and very difficult to get a strong grip on larger things. I couldn't fold clothes. I had to learn to blow my nose with 1 hand (so annoying, really).

The cast stopped before my elbow, but it still got in the way of me bending my elbow. This meant I couldn't get a fork/spoon to my mouth with my right hand, and I couldn't reach my neck to tie a tie.

Most of my problems while in the cast were due to me having to become lefty for 6 weeks. Even so, I felt that having full mobility of both arms is something we don't realize we take advantage of so much. Like the day after I broke my wrist, I went to someone's birthday party. I couldn't hold my plate and eat the cake on it at the same time (though some girl did come feed me a few bites...). Preparing the toilet paper for wiping was weird (though maybe this depends on technique?).

But it wasn't too hard to adjust. It was kinda fun, actually. It's like everything you do becomes a puzzle you have to solve. And then you start to feel good as you get better at things. For me, also, I had just entered a school pool/billiards tournament. I played 1-handed, lefty, and actually beat someone before losing horribly. I think I may be the best 1-handed, lefty pool player in my school now...

I had also just entered a doubles ping-pong tournament, so I learned to play that lefty too. It actually wasn't so bad. The worst part was the sweating and itching under the cast. I used scissors on occasion, though it probably would have been better to just ignore it, and it is possible to learn to ignore the itching so long as you can concentrate hard enough.

Broke my right wrist wrestling with my brother when I was a kid. Greenstick fracture, not too bad.

Broke thumb playing hockey from a slash.

Broke left wrist (scaphoid) playing hockey. Unassuming play, bumped into a guy going for a change, put out my arms to brace, just a nothing collision but it was enough. Didn't realize it was broken for two weeks (played 4 more games of hockey in that time, had 10 points in those 4 games, just sayin').

Was in a cast for six weeks, didn't heal as scaphoids often don't. Another month in a cast before surgery. Took a chunk of bone out of my hip and pinned it into my wrist. 6 more weeks in cast after surgery. Is ok now, scar on wrist is tiny, scar on hip is quite large and has divot where bone is missing.

Broke a bone in the top of my foot playing hockey, got hit by a shot.

Broke a rib playing hockey when I got tripped and slid sideways into the post of the net. This was most painful out of all of them.

Broke shoulder playing hockey, was driving around a guy, blew a tire and went into boards full speed at awkward angle.

I'm 47, have played hockey since I was 8. Had no injuries for the first 25 years of hockey, then all of the above ones in the last 10 years or so.

I broke the head of my humerus in motorcycling class when I slipped and fell during a braking exercise. As it was an incomplete fracture I just had to keep it somewhat immobile for a couple of month or so.

None broken, but quite a few disappointed.

0 of my bones ever broken. Did get in a bar fight one night & left the guy laying on the side walk with blood coming out his ear. Not that I'm a bad ass. He was drunk, missed his punch & fell. I saw what had happened, got in my car & ran like hell.

index finger once, nose twice once in a fight once because i fell and my nose caught a doorknob

Cracked finger once, cracked wrist once, both at the same time. Was worth it.
