During junior year of high school me and a couple friends decided that we were going to steal an RV and drive a whole bunch of our other friends to FL for Spring Break. This was a serious plan. We probably would have gotten at least a few other people to come along, too. The key obstacle ended up being that we couldn't figure out how to steal a RV.

As a backup plan, one friend said, "Let's go to Lakeside Park!"

"Where?"

"Lakeside Park! Like in the Rush song! It's a real place in Ontario!"

"That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. I don't even like Rush that much. Let's do it!"

So we pooled together a couple hundo and bought a beat to **** 1970-something Olds 98, which is like the most insanely large and fuel-inefficient car ever made, and off we went. We told our parents we were going to spend the night at some other guy's house playing D&D, and they believed it because we were the sort of dorks who would spend the night at somebody else's house playing D&D. And listening to Rush.

I did all the driving. No idea how I talked the other two into that. Maybe they were smart enough to realize that the guy driving was taking the most risk.

We made it all the way to Tonawanda, NY, and then I got pulled over for the crime of "looking too young to drive", probably because when I was 16 I looked like I was 12. Brag: Now that I'm in my 40's I look like I'm almost 40.

We truthfully told the police what we were doing, and I got thrown into a jail cell. My friends got to watch Cheers reruns and eat cookies while I tried to sleep on a wooden bench with a scratchy wool blanket.

Parents were telephoned. Awkward conversations were had. Eventually the cops managed to get us free tickets home on Greyhound by claiming we were runaways. The car was impounded and later given to the impound yard to offset the cost. On the way to the bus station the cop driving pointed out the window and said, "See that mist? It's from Niagara Falls. You almost made it!"

Years later I was driving near Albany on Christmas Eve and was pulled over for speeding. Turns out that due to youthful indiscretions, my privilege to operate a motor vehicle in New York state was still suspended, so I got arrested again. On Christmas Eve.

I runs so bad at online pokerz, but real life is finally appreciating me as much as it should again, so I expect my live pokerz to get better soon.
