I accidentally clicked on BBV4L and found this thread.

You are a man with admirable integrity and a big heart imo.

Good luck with everything, King Fish.

I cant wait to post the details on this one, but need to hold off a week or two.

We have just reached new levels of absurdity and political correctness.

King Fish, has your wife remained as annoyingly supportive throughout the roller coaster you've been riding ever since turning down that first offer?

King Fish, you remind me of an annoying local news station that makes sensational claims on promos to get you interested in watching their news program.

"A murder escaped from jail and is killing everyone in sight. Where is he now and how can you protect your family? Find out at 10."

Pretty much, but she wants me out of current situation because it's making tired and depressed a bit too much. Try to keep this thread light but there is a significant amount of stress that is a biproduct of working for ppl you don't respect.

More than half my day is spent explaining my job...and less then 33% actually doing it.

BTW I did not get the gig that was close to home. Salary scared them off even tho I told them would consider a cut.

Oh well...have about 7 interviews lined up next few weeks. Hopefully something close will be worth it.

Mildly upset, mildly pissed off. Guess it wasn't meant to be.

Well here's a new wrinkle...

Was just offered a job in Europe for a **** ton of money.

This is something I have never even remotely considered.

My interest is piqued.

Where in Europe? Do you get all these interviews from people soliciting you or are you searching online? Finding through people you know?

Awesome stuff to hear, tough that you didn't get the gig nearby but something will emerge.

How much % of an increase would it take you to leave the country?

I was hearing in my industry people were making 100% more by working in Dubai... but there's simply no way I'm moving, much less working in the desert.

This was through LinkedIn. Most of my interviews have come through contacts I've made over the years. Aside from LinkedIn I don't really use the job boards much. I'll use Indeed to see what is out there. I also get head hunted quite a bit and lately when something sounds interesting will respond.

I have about 9 or 10 places I still need to call back. I've just been cherry picking until I'm forced to expand my search.

This is in the UK and is a 100% increase and then some. It may be a split time job (half US/Half UK). We are also discussing other possibilities.

If I take it as-is, I would need a mod to adjust the title of this thread.

So 300k range (I'm guessing?) to move to a different country and possibly travel back and forth?

Interesting. What's your initial thoughts about it?

Torn. Something I never considered. Negotiating a possible compromise where I work out of a US location and travel quarterly or as needed.

Money is nice, but not if it'll come at the expense of your family life.

I don't have any advice since I've never been anywhere close to that situation, but it'd have to be something that has a ton of positives and very little negatives, and your wife would have be good with it. At least, I would think.

Good luck man, I'm sure with all the interviews and interest you have in potential employers you'll be more than fine, plus you sound like a cool guy so I'm rooting for you.

Flights to UK are quick just a little longer than flights to West coast. I say take it!!! and you could play the pokerz in your spare time in UK def +ev imo. Also the air mileage u rack up will pay for some nice vaca's with the family.

Pros: It is a new vertical from where I am now, and let me go back to marketing in an area that I really enjoyed (keeping details vague for now just in case).

The people I have spoken with (over the phone) seem quite laid back. Irish brogue, while hard for me to understand, is awesome.

The overall culture and attitude in company seems to have a lot of what I am looking for.

Cons: it's ****ing far. Really ****ing far. If I were single it would be a no-brainer.

Wife isn't so amenable to idea of leaving US.

I have a meeting with some folks next week at one of their US locations. That should help make the decision process easier.

FWIW...if wife said "ok" I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Also how are you finding these opportunities on LinkedIn? Are you advertising that you're looking? Asking people about jobs?

Job search feature. I also signed up for the Jobseeker package.

Also thru groups, wom, etc. I see something I usually can did someone within a degree of separation to find out more, then I click a button that says to Holla.

I have a pretty good network built up and I'm using it.

Somehow I received a call from a recruiter looking to fill a position in Jersey. I didn't look for him or search for a job but he looked on LinkedIn for someone with the qualifications. It's a good chunk of money but I know nothing about the company right now (interview on Wednesday morning). Recruiters are actually a major pain in the butt, but I actually need a new gig because my company is moving, so this may actually work out. LinkedIn can actually be useful I suppose.

As far as Ireland, is it in Dublin? My friend's father in law describe Dublin as "The most expensive city he's ever been to" and this is a guy who goes to NY, Paris, London, etc. I'm unsure what experience he went through specifically, but he made it a point (he mentioned it 3 times in 1 day).

I get a lot of crap from LinkedIn, but that is easy enough to filter. I do have my resume on monster, career finder, the ladders, etc but I don't know why. I pretty much ignore anyone who contacts me they those sites.

I like indeed. It is sort of google for job hunters.

I do get a some out of state inquiries from linkedIn but I usually just pass.

This opportunity came up because of a place i applied to liked me and couldn't afford me, but reccomended me to a friend at UK company.

Ya never know where the next opportunity will come from.

GL with the Jersey thing. I worked in Jersey before. Make sure u get a lot of money .

If I want $300k plus and unlimited resources etc then I have to move. We are also discussing other options next week where I could maybe stay in US and take a salary hit/adjust job description.

Don't want to get to detailed here...at least not yet. Some options include consulting, working out of an existing us facility, or starting one up built around me. As well as other ideas we kicking around.

Even if this doesn't work out I am having fun kicking some tires and playing with concepts. Giving me a little spark of passion at work I've been missing lately.

Please don't forget to fill us in on the latest chaos at your current job.

I understand your excitement about the future possibilities, but from a outside perspective, you are skipping a bunch of chapters.
