Actually, nothing at all has really happened since July 2011, but who's counting.

Going into 3rd rd of interviews with sr management of a new place next week. I promise that if I get out will post very entertaining updates. Gotta keep quiet until then.

They are right now in middle of laying off about 50% of workforce. There was a fistfight in the server room today. 1 rack down.

Hilarity Ensues.

May need to clarify above as someone IMed me. Rack goes boom does not mean rack topples over and falls..meant it that the rack went down and brought some servers with it. Damage done to the system that forced about 1/4 of our servers out of commission.

Someone was also pushed into something at the end of the racks (generator? fan? HAL?) that is causing it to arc after it is on for a minute. I'm not the most technically savvy guy in the world, so I'll just take pics Monday and post em and u can tell me. I'll see if one of our IT guys can explain it to me better so I can provide a more technical description.

Also what I am calling a server rack may not be a server rack. I was told about 7 terabytes of information was affected. (There is backup, but evidently restoring data from the backup is expensive).

Our "IT guys" are ****ing nuts. No idea how good they are at their jobs but they can hold their own in a bar with the best of 'em, and that's what's important.

Fun fact: Two of them are very adept at throwing hatchets. We shouldn't know this fact but we do.

Ok... I think this was the server that was damaged. Couldn't get confirmation (no one was around) but it was pulled away from most of the other racks...




This is the machine that they smacked into that started arcing. Evidently the technical name for it is an "AC unit." Heh.



At least, that's what I assume it is...

"AC" as in Air Conditioner...... server rooms like to be kept cool and all those servers run hot.

Ya I know. Was making light of me not knowing what it was, originally.

Tho I did get confirmation that not all of our racks are bolted down. Don't quite understand why some would be and some wouldn't... It's a somewhat new facility but seems a bit silly not to get that done. There are probably 35-50 racks total in there.

How many of these racks are C-Cup and over? Are there any Double D that are real not fake?

Based on recent events, I have been pushed too far. On Monday, I am going to start making a power play that will almost assuredly get me fired. I am taking on two "C" level managers head on.

And if/when that happens, I have the ability to take the entire company down with me. Unsure if I will take it that far. But based on a conversation I had Friday, I just might.

They cannot afford to fire me right now. If they don't see things the way I do, they will have no choice but to fire me or agree with me.

No matter what, I will be gone by September 1. The wheels are already in motion.

Watch this space. This week is going to be interesting.
