Dear OP,

As an IT peon-by-choice (lol @IT Management - if I wanted to manage people I wouldn't have picked up an actual trade), I can safely say that I wish I worked for you.

Somehow the dumb always seems to rise to the top in these organizations. I don't find the same to hold true across other industries (i.e. finance). Oh wells.

Good luck, and I hope everything works out.

Probably because most of the truly great IT people have poor personal skills and/or no interest in kissing ass so don't rise to the top

Maybe so. Certainly not one of the "truly great" that eats/drinks/sleeps the stuff, but there is probably a nugget of truth to the subset of superstars being a bit socially defunct combining with the group of competent-but-wants-to-be-hands-on leaving not much left to get to the top.

Still have not heard back from #1 job choice. Been a few weeks maybe time to write 'em off.

Got 2 interviews next 2 days. On paper not ideal jobs but should be better than here. Will update when I learn more. One place would actually relocate the job closer to me (still a 1 hr commute) if I agree to take it. The fact they would do something like that does make me feel good about the company, but based on JD and a bit "meh" on it.

Got a job offer today. Not gonna take it. More pay, less work, closer to home, but absolutely 0 challenge and I just know I'll be bored. Basically doing 1/3 of the duties I do now with 1/4th the responsibility and almost 0 input on external marketing.

It would sort of be like watching paint dry. In slow motion. Tho I would be well compensated.

I realized what I miss most about playing poker professionally: I was surrounded by smart people. And I liked that. The people in my industry are, for the most part, morans who I do not respect. Every time there is a gathering of the "power players" I am, time and again, underwhelmed and less than impressed.

Maybe I'm just an arrogant prick...is possible, but **** I wish I wish I could work with someone who was half as smart as I think I am.

Another interview tomorrow. I am going in with a bad attitude. This is the place that will relocate the job for me. I just...bah. I wish I was qualified for a job at Cern. I miss smart people.

There's more to landing a job than being qualified for it, don't you agree?

Welcome to life bro. Turns out after college, **** starts costing money. Who knew?

All I'm reading is, "I didn't want this job, so I took it. I didn't want this car, so I bought it."

Take some responsibility for your actions and either quit bitching or change your situation.

If you haven't read the thread, money shouldn't be an issue, and he is doing something to change his situation, just pure entertainment in between. Sadly many people in life settle for their jobs they hate , kingfish isn't settling and is trying to move on past his current company

Ok. Job interview bordered on surreal. Will post a TR when less inebriated.

Long story short: do not want job.

Good news: Interview next week for Job that is 20 minutes from home
Pre-interview went very well. Don't wanna count chickens, but i think this one is a slam dunk.

I'm actually excited about an opportunity.

Just turned down a $185k offer (+bonus). I never learn.

Recruiter asked what it would take...I basically said no amount of money, not a good fit. He then did the whole "well if you werent intereted why did you take the interview blah blah" rhetoric, which instantly told me I made the right choice.

I want this gig I'm going for on Friday. Anything over $110k I take it. Pretty sure I won't starve. And I'll have about 3 hours of my life back every day.

Oh yeah, they've also made several "top companies to work for" lists year after year. (Tho those should be taken with a small grain of salt...it still doesn't hurt).

Now I just gotta convince these people I can sell a product I know little about in a vertical I know nothing about.

Child's play.

I'll update this weekend. I gotta figure out how to do it without giving away too much info. Lotsa fun stuff that has some in industry buzzing, and not in a good way.

2 interviews at place I want down. Round 3 in a few weeks.
