This is my favorite thread at the moment. I hope you continue to keep it updated. 5*

I think also think that when one doesn't fear about keeping his job you can work better. I.e. you try to make the best possible choices without being afraid of doing mistakes or going against the will of your bosses. I mean after taking your team out to a nice dinner even though they know you'll get crap for it probably means they'll also trust you more and improves their morale (until they hear your bosses cut down your bonus and fired one of their best employees...)

Cool thing is that no matter what power he thinks he has, he has to give me the check.

Setting up a meeting for Monday with him and my department. ****er wants to play games? Ok. Now he is gonna have to give me my check in front of an audience, and he gonna have to give a little speech about how I deserve it and how great I performed and how valuable I am.

He is far too stupid to realize what is about to happen.

Shoulda just given me my check...prick.

Game on.
get an employee to film this, and i will love you forever

God, I am such a failure at life. Making even 50K/yr is incomprehensible to me (WTF are these "bonus" thingys?), let alone having a job that I did not absolutely despise. And were I to quit or lose job, I'd be taking at least a 25% pay cut.

Thankfully, I'm single with no kids, and my mom gives me a couple grand throughout the year as needed. Maybe I shouldn't have partied so much in college?

I'm rootin' for ya, King Fish, please keep updating. You're doing it for all of us. You were right not to take the job from your first post. As others have said, the commute would be the dealbreaker before anything else. I once had a job with an hour commute each way. It was pretty easy, straight line through the desert on the freeway, but I only lasted two months, just could not do it.

Then I heard that my boss was flying last minute out to California. First Class. The Ticket Cost $9200.

Being a good employee I obeyed, and did not take them to lunch. We did, however, just get back from Dinner at a good steakhouse. And I may have treated them to 7 or so bottles of 2007 Joseph Phelps Insignia.

Also, since everyone worked such late hours today because of the dinner and whatnot (It was a pure business expense...I made sure everyone had with them a piece of paper to take notes with, and I passed around some pens), they all have the morning off. (Well, except one guy, who is taking his time in the afternoon.)

I will submit my expense report tomorrow. May be interesting.

Side Note: While a "Surf and Turf" option of Lobster and Steak was not specifically on the menu, the steakhouse was happy to provide such an option for whoever wanted it as a special request. Lots of people wanted it. Who am I to say no?
It's amazing how often crap like this happens, and how rarely anyone is willing and able to do anything about it. I love how where I work if an executive leaves, they just leave, but the low-level clerks get disbelieving looks and guilt trips if they give less than two weeks. Execs cut staff to the bare bones, so it really does hurt coworkers if someone suddenly leaves, but **** that Sophie's Choice bull****.

Wonderful thing to have marketable skills, good for you, KF. Like you said NGAF is a tremendous feeling of liberation.

I'll see what I can do. Chances are he'd realize what I was up to there and find an excuse to bail.

Right now it's on his calendar as a vague "teambuilding" lunch.

The cakes are carrot and German chocolate. He hates coconut and claims to have a carrot allergy.

I did, however, order lunch from the place that serves his favorite dish. That dish has not been ordered. He will whine for 20 minutes about it. At least i hope so. I have the over on 15 minutes and 8 mentions with $20 at stake. (this is **** that prob only amuses those who work with him...sry for deraill. Will update tomorrow).

5 stars Kingfish.... hearing about you yelling at your boss gives me much satisfaction. I had to give me fat C*** coworkers their x-mas gifts today...I caught my boss laughing with my co-worker as they were "listening" to see if the box's were ticking (ie bomb inside)...its was the most satisfying moment of my whole year because now I know, that they know, that I F****** hate them. Looking forward to the updates

Epic Thread. Takes so much personality to turn down a offer like that (monetary-wise) for reasons like yours. I'm sure that it was the right decision. There are so many more important things than money. I love how you pull this **** off and turn tables on your boss.

Keep the updates coming and good luck.
