How did that porn movies in movie theatres thing work? People were pretending they didn't see anyone masturbating? Watching porn (even old porn with actual plots, acting and stuff) in a room full of strangers sounds like the most uncomfortable situation I could imagine myself in.

That is why VHS was so huge so fast: the average guy never went into an adult theater. Getting porn in the privacy of your living room was a big plus.

You either had Playboy/Hustler/etc. or titty bars... adult theaters were definitely for the more "dedicated" viewers of pornography.

all the porno movie houses i went to [including Mitchell Bros. in SF and Berkeley]
were REALLY DARK inside. What was really weird is that they had popcorn stands in front.

I was living in Germany st that time. And I remember there was a discussion among parents if Star Wars was bad for kids. Seriously!

I saw ESB first before the original because of that.

What's it like to know that you were 7 at the time that Hendrix died? Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news?

Don't remember Hendrix dying, but I do remember where I was when I heard JFK got shot.

Cars were a lot different then. They had to be tuned up it seemed like all the time. Most didn't have power steering (or at least most that kids would drive). They generally weren't good for more than 100,000 miles if that. Dashboards cracked after a couple of years. 8 tracks were hilarious. They never worked right and you always needed a piece of cardboard to jam the tape in just right. We didn't have very good sound systems and I knew a bunch of guys that would put huge home cabinet speakers in their back seats. On the flip side, muscle cars were frickin' awesome.

The Six Million Dollar Man jumped the shark with the Bigfoot story line imo.

How much was available and how expensive was a porn compared to a regular movie?
same price as a regular movie, IIRC.
Having grown up in the bay area in Cali, there was a variety of stuff.
Some porno movies had plots, even.
I will never forget Wang the Merciless, in "Flesh Gordon", commanding over 100 couples to f***. And they did, all at once, on this huge palace hollywood like set. Looked like one of those Japanese mass-participation thingz.

power windows were not intro'd into cars until the early 70's,
and really didn't become common until the late 90's.
so u had to use 1 of these 2 get the window up or down:

car doors locked manually, with little buttons, too.
