Selling cars is allot like poker

Money is how you keep score (the most sales & commisions win)

your income fluctuates each month, just like poker.

You meet new people every day, just like (live) poker.

Sometimes you loose money and most of the time you make money, just like poker.

If you love poker and need to find a job, go try selling cars! Its a great career that you can make allot of money with little or no college education.

I would still rather play the pokerz for a living though.... it gets old going to work everyday. You young rich poker pros dont know how good you have it!

cool thread!
the 94-96 Chevy impala's held their value and probably a good car to invest in. back in the day. before our economy went to ****.
also the Grand Nationals held their value or where actually a good investment.
it seems to me like Audi's hold their value very well.
same thing with my chevy suburban before the gas crunch.

Any other cars out their hold their value?
i presently own a pontiac G8 and am wondering if this car may be like the next chevy Impala.
i thought about becoming a car sales man.(as i recently lost my job. had to take a buy out do to the fact my job was moving to mexico)
any advice in which way to go. New or Used ? and any advice in getting into this profession. I am really good with people and was in sales for a short period of time. very short but if i could sell toys then i think i could sell cars pretty easy. any advice?

Hop on the Internet and look for NEW car sales jobs. New cars is the best place to start because they will train (at least a good dealership will) and a used car lot will not. I would apply at a Honda, Ford or Chevy dealership, each of these companies have great training programs for new sales people. I would recommend Honda over them all because they are easy to sell and Honda owners will always buy another one (I was a Sales Manager of a Honda dealership for over 5 years)... Good luck! PM me if you have any personal or specific questions.

we are much more willing to take a dig at the end of the month then at the beginning, salesman want to hit their draw, the managers are feeling pressure to hit the quota...

also, highlighted sentence makes no sense so maybe you are the idiot

Do you make up fake pay stubs to get loans approved for poker players who have no other source of income?

When someone comes into the dealership to look at cars, do you 'profile' the people at all?

These are cars that are on my lot not ones that I own personally (I do drive what I want home each day though)... Why buy one when you can use one for free

Years ago this was normal business practice lol.. Now there are so many regulations with the bank and they do a much better job at verifying the information they are given for auto loans. I am sure it still happens but not as offten as it use to..

HELL NO! I had a guy that looked like a dirty pig farmer, driving a 1980's Ford truck pull into the lot and look at a $90,000 Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG. He said "this looks like what my wife wanted, I will take it" I almost started laughing untill he went to the cab of his truck, pulled out a briefcase and gave me $10,000 bundle of 100's and said he will be back with the rest.. He came back with his wife (that was just as dirty as him), paid for the car and left..

$28,000 - $28,600 would be a good deal on this Honda new.. You may be able to find one as a certified used Honda for around $26,500 (there have been a few run through the auction lately)

why would this be retarted? it is good buisness. as your workers drive home from work people will notice that it is a dealership vechicle. and may ask about the car.
Also if people that live in the neighborhood know the car sales man they will always wonder about all the cars he will drive. in a way it is kind of like networking. plus it gives all of the salesman experience about the cars which helps them sell the products. a well informed staff = money for that car sales lot.

Its called a Demo... It is normal for almost every new and used car dealerhship to allow its GM and or Sales Mangers to drive home demos. It is part of how I am paid, I have never worked at a car dealerhship in my life that did not let me drive a demo when I was there Sales Manager.
