In showbiz, is it possible/easy to just start out at the bottom somewhere doing whatever, and through your networking w/ ppl, move up?

I feel that if you wanna get into stuff like directing or being on a major production you need to find your way there, regardless of your skill. Hollywood will not find you, you need to find hollywood. Would u agree?

I take econ/business classes. Not artsy stuff. But I love entertainment on TV, and wish to be part of it some day.

I was a working screenwriting for 15 years in Hollywood. Best advice I can give you is:

A) you have to live in L.A.
B) concentrate on your craft and your networking above all else. Don't worry about girls, partying, etc...just your craft. 15 years goes by before you know it.

If you're talking about a 100 minute+ feature-length with at least 4 sex scenes in it, you can make it for less then $5,000 if you really wanted to. Depends on how much you're paying the performers and if you have to rent equipment/editing system.

Most definitely. I've always said it's much better for your career to be the guy seeping the floors on a real production than going to film school.

I take econ/business classes. Not artsy stuff. But I love entertainment on TV, and wish to be part of it some day.

If you want to be on the business side of the entertainment industry, than schooling/degrees are important. The creative side, not so much.
