The men in green are totally different than the men in beige. The latter are traffic cops. The former are actual police that deals with every other issue be it killings, stealing or your missing a license for your eatery. I don't get a lot of face time with green so I can't say for sure but my assumptions is not to tick them off. They hold a lot of power in this corrupt society.

I was never jailed, I was held over night because it was getting so late. Same goes for the second time. Yeah, they could have just had me sit quietly in a chair somewhere but they choose the cell.

They are everywhere, You just need to know where they are. Most foreigners wouldn't even venture out of district 1 let alone know of these places. I am Vietnamese, speak the language and pretty much live like the locals. I know the nooks and crannies of the city. City is filled with working girls of all varieties. Most foreigners only know of the ones that works in main areas who understand the foreigners mentality. When they meet foreigners, they get gouged right away as there's a great chance he will accept. Now when its happening with all working girls to all foreigners, what do you think the white guy is thinking? Its because the foreigner is uneducated about such things and when it comes down to it, it's still cheaper for asian ass compared to home.

Dont even get me started on places like Appo....I will outright call the foreigners who go into that establishment just plain dumb. Ridiculous prices, **** atmosphere, ugly working girls. The place is only still alive because of the dumb tourist and guys who havent a clue.

relative to experience. That being said food can be cheap as 1 dollar, delicious and filling to western prices crap food. It varies on what you know. Internet is set prices and I do well with the cheapest VNPT offers which is 6 dollars month but I know of no foreigner who use that plan and always opt for the 15 usd plan . Transportation varies as there are many options. If you are here awhile I recommend renting your own wheels if not buying.

Never has happened and if it did, I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. It usually isn't a **** and leave scenario. I am usually full and entertained already. I don't do this for the money, its just one of my many activities that is life for me in this city.

I like lounges, I like the live music with bonus english songs. Nice environment and yes your able to actually chat sort of. Just to pricey for my taste. I am of the opinion that there is no place in Saigon where I should pay 5usd for a damn beer. I don't hang around in luxury hotel club/bars or similar etc. Only exception so far would be Sky Bar only because of the view.
