Sorry if theres another thread I should be posting this question to. So I'm strictly a cash player and don't know much about sng/tournament poker but a friend of mine hooked me up with a stake on a super soft site (sorry but dont wanna mention lol). My average stake is around $8 and to put it in perspective the field is how I'd imagine online poker was in say 2005. Maybe 1 decent reg for every 15-20 players. Im trying to figure out what a realistic ROI would be on a site like this, so far Im running prety hot but its a small sample so dont wanna judge anything off that.
So best case scenario given I play fairly solid what sort of ROI would be achievable? 50%?
70% very doable at that ABI on a soft site, probably close to 100% is possible if you are really good, but I guess you'd never be playing those stakes if you were.
Field size matters a ton, it's not really possible to get a huge ROI in tiny fields but if you don't have at least 100% ROI in the sunday storm you're doing it wrong. Of course the fields with thousands of players have the downside that variance is so insane it's hard to really tell. I'd say over 50% is hard on fields smaller than 100 players and 300% is easily possible in a 5000 player field. But probably divide those numbers by about 3 to get an estimation for yourself if you don't know the intricacies of tournament poker yet.
He's not asking what a good ROI is a particular mtt. In general $1-$5 are easily crushable. At $11-$22 level your ROI will drop off as although there are still a lot of bad players, there are some better regs playing them.
