People can make whatever deals they want. But generally I'd say $2,000. It's like he paid 20% of your buy-in and he gets 20% of the payout. (And like you paid 20% of his buy-in and get 20% of his payout).
I've never seen anyone deduct the buy-in from the payout before calculating the 20% before.
