This is a damn shame. Sorel is a poker prodigy and has phenomenal poker talent. There isnt many poker players with his understanding of the game. I just dont get it. He is throwing it all out the door. I dont see why a person with his abilities has to lower himself to do shady things when he clearly doesnt have to.

Thing is, he can still play poker as much as he wants. He's killed his hotel room gambling action, but I'm sure he came out ahead in that lifetime. Scumbags gonna scum.

ok its super shady if sorel paid JR for a sports debt AFTER this whole thing went down (and JR didn't pay for the chinese losses).
that seems like a pretty big admission of guilt.


edit: it seems pretty shady tho that JR accepted free % of sorel in MTT's in exchange for his silence for 4-8 weeks.

John Racener comes off as very believable imo. Without his DUIing he would have a basically flawless reputation, it would be as Barry Greenstein allegedly getting cheated in this instance.
I am confident Sorel cheated and Sorel's explanation really isnt all that good.
Also highly doubt that JR accepted some kind of deal in exchange for his silence.
Also it doesnt even matter. We are probably never really going to know, its not like Sorel is gonna make a second post admitting to this whole debacle. However, he needs to accept being seen as guilty in this matter, regardless.
It is one of the punishments of having made several unethical actions throughout his whole poker career (?).

I have no thoughts on whether anyone was cheated but I thought there was a few interesting things in the interview....

Racener says he wasn't drinking but Sorel was trying to get him drunk? How does this happen? It sounded to me like he was drinking.

Racener also said that Sorel had been "beating his brains in for hours"? If Sorel was dealing off the bottom of the deck for hours and hours either Racener was drunk or not too bright.

The real issue to me isn't whether Racener was cheated. He has a much bigger problem, his destructive life style he is currently living. Sounds to me like someone with a serious drinking problem(obv with 3 DUIs) and a serious gambling problem.

I believe it was also mentioned that Racener lost several other bets he refused to pay to Sorel throughout the trip.

I don't know if Sorel really straight up cheated but he did take advantage of a drunk and/or a sucker with a serious drinking problem.

If I was Racener's friend I wouldn't be posting about how he got cheated. I'd be trying to get the guy some treatment to kick his addiction to gambling and drinking. This is not going to end very good at all.

I'll not post my theory of what I think happened, but before interview I was like meh, Sorel's gonna Sorel, but after I was like wtf, **** Sorel's life as genuinely believe he is innocent.

If cheating is not the main issue to you then your in the wrong thread and an idiot. Stop pretending to be a clinical psychologist and just stop posting
