Hi Everyone,

Not new to the MTT community but this is my first post on 2+2 (lame, I know). I am looking to form a small study group with players in a very similar situation as myself, and where better to look?

First, a little about my poker career thus far. I started playing small cash games and SNGs about 8-9 years ago. I grinded small stakes for a few years before completely stopping to focus on other things. About a year ago, I found my love for MTTs and have been super focused on them since.

I have completed both the UpSwing and RYE Masterclass, combined with large amounts of studying and playing to get to the level where I am at now. I would say my game is fairly advanced but far from being elite (which is the ultimate goal). I play an average buy-in of about $35-$40, mixing in everything from the Big $5.50 to the Sunday Million and the Big $109.

I am currently playing online full-time, which includes about 60-70 hours a week on poker-related activity (playing, studying, reading, etc.).

I am looking for fellow grinders with a similar skill level, commitment level, and aspirations to form a study group with. This type of group has been proven to accelerate learning and it is something I am missing. I'm looking for players that I can provide value to but also who will provide value to me.

Please respond to this thread if you are interested with the following information. I only ask for this information to ensure we are a good fit to work together. I will include my answers below.

Poker Stars account: I'm Saul In
Party Poker account: Saul_In
888 Poker account: N/A
Discord account: Saul In
Number of hours spent on poker/week: 60-70
Average buy-in: $35-$40
Skill level: Advanced
Country of Residence: Canada
Time Zone: EST
Poker Goal: Move from online-only to begin playing live circuit, hoping to play a SHR ($25K+ buy-in) in next 5 years.

Best of luck on the tables.

Saul

I'm interested in this. Anyone who is up for having a small ongoing study group let me know.

I played poker professionally up to a year or so after black friday. I pretty much exclusively played HU cash from 200-1kNL on EU sites.
After that I started doing development consulting work and started a successful business, I did not play almost any poker for 5+ years.

My motivation is mainly to successfully compete at live 1K-5K MTTs, and playing most majors online.

Sadly most all of my poker friends from back in the day quit the game or play too recreational. I know that beside all the poker coaching sites available, it can still be well worth to regularly talk and think about poker with likeminded people.

We would create a group somehow and regularly discuss hands and poker together, learning from each other, giving and taking. We don't have to have the exact same skill level but a willingness to learn and motivation to succeed is an absolute must.

Regarding my skill level, I know everything there is to know about poker ~6 years ago, and in the last 3 months I have been catching up pretty intensively about what has changed, focusing on MTT poker specifically, mainly using RunItOnce and UpswingPoker.

@jnfpoker, 5 years is an immense long time in poker, if OP wants to set his goal to compete at 25K buyins (my guess is few of these guys have 100% of themselves anyhow), it's a big goal, but not impossible imo. Although I would suggest a few lower goals in between so it's less likely he will lose his motivation.

I will also playing a lot of events in Vegas and around EU in the coming year(s), so would be great if there are also people with live ambitions.
