I mean, just imagine this thing is supposed to be your profession and you're supposed to be one of the best and you've dedicated all of your time and energy into becoming great. And you spend all the time and resources you have into traveling to these tournaments only to walk away with nothing every time. Consistent failure can really **** someone up.

Worst part is that a whole year of live play is the equivalent of what? 4-5 days online?

yea i came off harsh and i didnt mean it disrespectfully, as i have no idea of the constant pressure hes under. but there can be a balance. i guess its hard for me to feel to empathize in this situation, but its hard to feel bad for someone who, in reality, has it really good. /me posting itt

If he were less accomplished, Shaun wouldn't feel this way. There's is something about this game that when you're great, you expect too much and it becomes too easy to feel as if you've failed.

As a less accomplished player myself and having played for a longer amount of time, I'd be disappointed if Shaun quit playing given the success that he's had. Like I tell my roommate, "Don't give up; don't ever give up. - Jimmy V"

I'd recommend that Shaun doesn't play through the remainder of 2009 and start 2010 w/ a Corona on Day 1 of the PCA.

It really is amazing how quickly and fully a hatred for poker can come up and take you over, making you think there's almost no chance you will ever play another hand again. Anyone who has grinded MTTs with any degree of seriousness knows the feeling, or at least will at some point.

There's just something wrong about playing a game where you are "successful" a miniscule percentage of times played, especially as your sole source of income. Oh, it can be done, it is done, but how many people do it for any real length of time while making a living at it?

O/u on number of days until Shaun's back to normal volume?
+1..on the other hand, some of his comments could be related to a successful player who puts in more volume than is humanly possible and is just 'tired'... no doubt he will be back better, stronger and more dominating, if that's even possible. gl SFD
