$3500 Venetian main event. Level 6 just sat down ten min ago have no info on players. Blinds are 200-400 , 400 big blind ante. I have 20k to start hand. UTG raises 800, Utg+1 makes it 2700, hijack makes it 7700. I have QQ in small blind. I folded and UTG +1 has AK suited vs hijack JJ. Comments? Feel free to rip me apart I’m currently on dinner break of this tournament and pretty much made this post so someone could say it’s not terrible but any opinion is appreciated.
I mean based on the action & the positions of those players without knowing their stack sizes (I guess the HJ guy wasnt all in right?). Id say its a clear fold.
The guy with AK and the guy with JJ clearly overplayed their hands.
UTGs Range should be 55-AA, ATo-AKo, A2s-A5s, A9s-AKs, T9s+. So UTG +1 has to be better than that Range unless he has some kind of clear read on UTG. to 3bet UTG he needs to have at least 1010+, AQ+ and the guy in the HJ needs to beat the ranges of both. So the only hands he could decide to 4bet here are only KK-AA and sometimes QQ, AK while AK works more as a 4bet bluff since its 50 % less likely for UTG and UTG+1 to have AA or KK, but usually its a call.
Your fold was completely right, your hand is crushed here. You cant know that HJ overplays his Jacks with no info on him you have to expect that he has QQ+,AK and not Jacks. Most of the time its AA / KK since QQ would call sometimes and AK most of the times against an early position 3bet vs an UTG raise.
Its sad to see that in a $3500 MTT people still overplay JJ, AK. JJ should have folded or just called & AK should definetly have folded after a 4bet against his UTG raise, since he is either completely crushed or gets in rare cases a coinflip, but he is never in front in that spot since weaker AXs never 4bet here.
Unfortunately It's a fold, unless you have really good reads that they are all crazy. Let's say that if MP raised, Co 3betted, button 4betted, maybe in that spot you could consider shoving, but also you would need at least some reads.
