Hello

I would like to know more about the online poker legislation in Finland? In wich international sites are you allowed to play? Do you have to pay any form of taxes for your online winnings?

Tyvm Chuck.

Nice to hear that, my brother is going to do Erasmus for 6 months in the north of the country (even colder I guess ) and I might go with him.

Keep up the good work with your writing, having dealt with some gambling issues on my own I find ur writing quite helpful to re analyse some chapters of my life. Planning to buy ur books (y)

Thanks! Feel free to hit me up with any questions, I know this country quite well, my family is from the north etc, but I can also understand the outside perspective (am not a huge fan of Finland / have had lots of poker players over for varying periods of time). It's definitely really good for the pokers tho, we are as liberal as it comes and have superfast internet everywhere etc. Some brave foreigners have relocated here as well, turko_man and whitelime for example. GL!

Thank you Chuck. Yeah I already had internet speed, people mentality and general laws into account.
I was just a little unsure about taxes and wich pokerrooms I can play.
Weather is definitely a disadvantage but I will be grinding a lot so its ok.
The city I am planning to move is Oulu, mostly a students city I think.
I am from a country where we never see snow and I am planning to live in Oulu for about 2 and a half months during the winter, wish me luck

Oulu would be the best city in the north imo. Well, technically it's not even that north, but all the cool stuff in Lapland is very accessible from there. Frequent northern lights around there as well. They have quite a lot of students there, I have no idea about the party scene but I suspect it might be quite alright, at least by Finnish standards which aren't that lively. I think Oulu is easily big enough for a 2,5 month type of stay.

Finns are definitely pretty grumpy, especially in the winter. In Oulu the sun barely rises in the winter, if you're grinding a typical schedule bear in mind you'll basically be only seeing darkness for your entire stay. Even here in Helsinki (the south) I've gone like 2 months straight without seeing daylight, because the sun's only really up from like 9am to 2pm which you always sleep if you're playing until late at all (we are GMT+2). That stuff can really get to you.

The good news is that the darkness makes girls lonely and crave both alcohol and male company, and with your exotic Portuguese background you should get laid like there's no tomorrow. All the girls I've ever known from the Oulu area have been bath**** insane, in a good way. Here in the south they are typically a bit more presumptuous.
