I have implored Nick to donate the money if he hadn't already (about ten times). I implored other people to talk to Nick about this and talk some sense into him and no one wanted to get involved. I really just wanted to get Nick to send in the money if he hadn't. I tried to do this privately through email before I posted it on 2+2 and it didn't work. I tried my best to get through to him. Hopefully, this is a wake up call and it can be correct before things get more serious (assuming the donations were not made and that has not been definitively proven yet).

Why would the hospital legal department be brought into this private matter?

Nick is only a feature in mad poker. The host is EB and BretO. They are easily accessible on twitter and maybe also on here. Pressure them to ask the questions. As far as the legal department goes...I think its illegal to solicite money in the name of a charity or donation. The hospital must investigate to also protect their name. I liked Nick before but I can no longer defend him if he is guilty of this.

Yea, it's 100 percent illegal to collect money for a charity and then keep it, and if he was collecting the money using the hospital's name, they will probably bring the hammer down on him in a big way. It's not like we're only talking about a couple-hundred bucks here, there was over 5k collected in just one score. That's enough money to add 'Grand' in front of any charges that may be brought against him, and that's a pretty serious matter. If he wasn't going to donate the money he would've been better off just offering stakes with a 50/50 deal, cause he still would've had a million people asking for them. Now the situation gets more and more murky and grim the longer it goes on.

I really hope things have just gotten away from Nick and they're not as bad as they seem. He really seemed like a decent guy, but now with all of this who knows what to think anymore.

what i think is going to happen is he is gonna make some huge over the top donation and try to spin it to make himself look like the hero.

I hear ya, I don't want to watch it either but I am going to so I can talk to the people at the hospital about it because I want them to watch episodes 9 and 10 when he talks about the money raised and if the donations were sent in.

I watched it and I dont see why all you guys are hating. He's giving free money out regardless for a chance for us to play. I hope he gets the paper work out.

It wasn't free money if he just keeps the 50% that was supposed to go to the hospital. Everyone was mad because they don't believe that money ever got to the hospital.

If he'd just said that straight-up then no one would have a problem. The problem comes from possibly lying about it, especially when you consider that people were donating money WITHOUT ACCEPTING THE STAKE. As in, they were playing on their own money and donating, and that constitutes fraud. He accepted money to donate to charity and then kept it for himself. That's a crime, and why people are hating/upset.

I wonder if people should start contacting espn and let them know about this possible situation (still only possible cause we can't be certain, although it really doesn't look good for turtle). Might affect the way/who they cover in their Main Event coverage.

fwiw guys, in the video he says that he donated everything through an organisation he knows that donates to that hospital and will get all the proof that it was donated before accusations started.

He did come across a lot more rational and controlled than last few weeks in this episode and although he still is responsible for all the drama of last weeks and he's still an egocentric maniac that thinks he's the best human ever since Jesus, I feel like a lot of the **** that has been flying around was a bit too harsh.

I got bored about 3/4 through though because the commentators have to keep licking his ******* and the subjects start getting a bit repetitive, but did he talk anymore about the ban and shaundeeb? He only talked about if briefly, but he was saying that he was banned because of a one year old post.

I just talked to the hospital and the attorney in charge of investigating these donations will be out of the office until next week.

I also talked to Dr. Feusner's office (where Nick supposedly made the donations) and Ms. Cheryl Cox assured me that Dr. Feusner is well aware of what is going on and he was the one who had it sent to their legal department. Also, Dr. Feusner's office (including Dr. Feusner himself-Channing's uncle) said they found absolutely nothing and know nothing regarding any donations from Nick Rainey or anything corresponding to the supposed donation amounts.

I didn't talk to Dr. Feusner personally but I am paraphrasing what his assistant said.
