If he does keep the money he won staking, that's shady as **** but not stealing. But he had some people actually send him their own money, and keeping that would be out and out stealing.

I had a small amount of guilt for starting the nvg thread, it was obviously the straw that broke the camels back, he screwed himself over by his reactions. This thread ends any chance i feel bad. I mean honestly, this should be a wake up call for him that an entire community of people are telling him to get mental help.

cliffs on how the stakes worked? I thought I browsed this thread at the time and he just put people in the tourn and suggested they donate or stake to other people. If that's the case, then it's stealing imo. If it was a typical stake and he promised to donate his share (or a portion of his share) then I agree it isn't stealing but super scummy.

It was basicly: He stakes +-40 people every week, you have to send back 50% or more for charity, everything he receives back, he donates. He planned to do it until he had 100k too, but he was too busy after a while to send 40 people each week.

He planned to do it until he had $100K but then he said the following...

“I am thinking that the best way would be to send in donation each week instead of saving up for the $100,000. Might as well help as soon as possible. If everyone transfers 50% of winnings to me I will send out a check Monday morning.”

Legal action on faking money to charity? I mean is this really any different than pretending to be a charity, calling a call list to get donations, then renigging on those donations and keeping it all? Im pretty sure there has been both civil and criminal cases on the above mentioned before. Anyone confirm?

2. 18 U.S.C.A. § 1343 (in relevant part): "Whoever, having devised or intending to devise any scheme or artifice to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, transmits or causes to be transmitted by means of wire, radio, or television communication in interstate or foreign commerce, any writings, signs, signals, pictures, or sounds for the purpose of executing such scheme or artifice, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both."

Now, it's not like you're going to get the FBI to investigate this, or get some US Attorney to bother filing charges given the paucity of evidence and the relatively low stakes involved here. If he indeed kept the money that he claimed was going to charity, he's probably violating that wire fraud law.

Dr. Feusner is out of the office this week and the administrative assistant is working on finding the information. However, I think she is going to talk to Dr. Feusner before she gives us her information so we may have to wait until next week to find out anything.
