My Goal for 2013 was to build some kind of bankroll which didn´t work super well but worked to some extent. Had some shots for big money but have stopped to believe in the big luckshot and plan to focuss on making money not on shotting and hoping to get thereeee.
The nice thing was that i saw a lot of nice places in the world and met a lot of cool people this year.

Goals for 2014

[ ] 200k profit with Mtts and/or Plo including rakeback
[ ] continue to see nice places and meet cool people
[ ] not spent too much on livepoker and don´t degen at livetrips
[ ] lose less than 10k on flipping and -ev games (hard goal for sure)
[ ] improve social life

2013: Had my first 100k+ year. Nearly won a bunch of big things but didn't quite. Won the 2nd chance and Bigger 162 which was cool. Continued to improve my game

2014: Have another 100k+ year, win a liveament outright. Play 5k+ mtts volume wise.

Reasonable goals that I hope to achieve before this is year is out.

And for motivation: (stolen from another thread on this forum)
Spoiler:

Good luck to all this year.
I am actually quiet happy with my goals from 2013, achieved the majority of them. The reason for the [/] because I have definitely played more but not won a hell of a lot yet. I got a placement, did very well in my second year and everything just improved in general.

In terms of poker, a lot of it is starting to 'click' I keep running deeper and deeper but no major final tables yet.

For 2014:

Life related:
Carry on with the gym.
Start to learn to drive and pass my theory. (High on the agenda this time)

Poker related:
Read and study more. (Put this here for good measure)
Play more MTTs which will hopefully lead onto winning more $$$.

Merry Christmas to all and good luck for the new year!

what's that gym stuff about?
Im more than happy with 30 pushups every day just for feelgood. What's the point of physical improvement unless you're pro sportsman?

2013 was a great year. Switching to mtt's only was a great decision. Unfortunately, ran pretty bad in highstakes tournaments (100+) but quiet confident I'll be getting a big score soon because my game improved so much the past year. Got a great staker, talk strategy with so many good players, improved in a way I never thought I would, so yeah feeling really confident for 2014.

Goals

[ ] Get in a good volume
[ ] Bink a 5 digit score
[ ] Keep working and improving my game
[ ] Play some more live tournaments, which I really enjoy
[ ] Go more to the gym
[ ] Get my driver license
[ ] Do well in school

I had no 2013 poker goals. Because of the lack of goals (and schedule), I really didn't play much, maybe once every two weeks on average, and usually short cash sessions because I didn't dedicate enough time for MTTs. 2014 will be different because I has goals:

[ ] Create a rolling monthly schedule that includes dedicated MTT time.
[ ] Ladder up the NL cash tables on shorter non-MTT days.
[ ] Shot-take for WSOP entry when the time comes.
[ ] Avoid 180s, since the structure change blows. (IMO)

Non-poker related:

[ ] Actually train properly for a half-marathon _before_ the Cabot Trail Relay in May so I'm not dying by kilometer 15 this year.
[ ] Rejoin the gym to add some weight training to the running schedule, and to make time on the dreadmills when the weather sucks.
[ ] Go somewhere nice for a short skiing vacation (either drive to Maine or catch a puddle-jumper to Quebec).
[ ] Learn some conversational Spanish before my Mexico vacation (March! Not enough time!). Must find a good app for the Ipad.

Exactly 365 days ago I was sitting in my 1br apartment in Mexico 1000s of miles from my family after the worst year imaginable. 2011 was my "breakthrough" year, I think I won over 100k at both live and online and I was sure I was destined for greatness. I spent the vast majority of 2012 trying to be the next ImDaNuts and failed massively having a gigantically losing year. Last christmas I decided I was done with that and decided that if I don't turn this around during 2013 it might be my last year of playing poker. It very much felt like a make or break year for me.

The attitude change turned out fruitful immediately, I won a rather festive triple crown by winning something on the 24th, 25th and 26th, had my record month ever this January by winning the Brawl and chopping HU TCOOP. Things were looking pretty great again until I got sick somewhere around February/March. At first I didn't know what was wrong and I played with like 20% focus for wayyyy too long losing infinite. Then finally I couldn't play at all and had to take 3 months off to recover, and after I recovered I had lost all touch and played less than optimal for another 3 months. So basically I had about 7 months "off" in the sense that I wasn't capable of playing my best and that hurt a fair bit. Finally got things back on track around September, had my third 25k+ score of the year, but then WCOOP came and raped my soul. The last few months I tried super hard and I think played really well but ran shockingly bad. I was 1/~10 in at least 3 different Sunday majors with heaps 1st and got 7 8 8, I lost a ~50k equity flip at an FTOPS ft, got ****ed superhard in every Big ft etc.

Also lost live, ran so absurdly bad it's not even real, but thankfully didn't play very much this year.

Either way, this year in one hand did not give me the results I was looking for, but in the other hand had so much promise and based on everything I firmly believe I would've got those results if I had not ran bad at life and lost so many months (would also have helped if I had played better when I was in shape).

Regardless, the fact of the matter is that I'm again a year older and rapidly approaching that state where I'm getting washed up and too old. I don't want to set anything in stone, but I'm pretty sure that if I don't reach my goal this year I'm going to be done with poker and start doing something else. My only goal is to win $150k, it should theoretically not be too hard, but there are so many factors I can't control that I can't exactly expect that to happen either. Since this may very well be my last year, I'm going to do the only thing that is under my control and give it my absolute best shot. This year I'm going to care more than ever, play every tournament like it's my last, have maximum heart and commitment so that at least if it goes to ****s I can quit with no regrets. If this fails I want to at least be able to say that god damn I poured my heart out to rape every nit in every plebby ft for another $1200 score to add to the bank. Can't say I've cared enough during most of my poker career and it certainly shows in my results.

In other areas of life I have a book in the works that I think will be out during the first quarter of the year. My goal is to be as satisfied with that as I possibly can and have at least 100 people read it, keep my gf happy, and continue improving at rock climbing doing a first proper outdoors trip to Utah or Thailand or somewhere in the summer to climb some serious rocks. To do that I intend to get insanely ripped, so I shall also eat better and exercise even more this year.

Cliffs: +150k or quit pokers

GLA and happy holidays.

spent lots of time doing nothing, and accomodating to others before myself.

never studied.

2014

make 200k pre rakeback

get better at pre ante

watch pokerguru play..
