- deeb didnt crush live mtt's cause media looks at holecards

in all seriousness tho what were they doing with the hc info? relaying during the hand or after? and how did they communicate the info to one another... hand signals, secret mics, sms, bbm?

he gets moved to a new table where two old live nits are sitting. one has access to pokernews and one does not. not only does the person with the internet on his phone have extra info, he can spend time between hands looking up more info about players.
is that a case to get phones banned from tables?
this is so ******ed. anyone has the ability to buy internet access at the tables if they so choose. if you dont want to then you dont have to. how these 2 things are "related" is beyond me

yeah eventually he stopped doing it. even if the dealer didnt force him to move, me being aware of it happening stopped him and he stood on the other side of this particular player from now on.

im pretty sure i got it stopped as soon as i possibly could after i had realized this same dude has been over my right shoulder for the first half of day 3.

THIS, sorry if I came off bad obviously it's ridiculous if there are media people helping the players, just seems kind of far-fetched and unlikely to be a real industry-wide problem.

just spitballin bro. some people wouldnt want technology to be able to change the outcome of a tournament.

to say that in this thread makes no sense. the 2 are clearly not even close to related. 1 is cheating and the other is using technology to your advantage

Some theoretical possibilities.
  • The effective but low-tech method is to have one or more observers trying to look at hole cards. It is often enough to see paint or two red cards, etc.
  • One high-tech method is to have access to the hole card video. Either with the knowledge of the production crew, or without it.
  • Another high-tech method is from one or more strategically placed video cameras. On a tripod with a zoom lens is best.
  • Data could be relayed to the player by a verbal code, posture, and/or gesture .
  • In the high-tech method, it can be transmitted by radio to the player's "iPod" or an invisible earpiece.
  • To minimize detection, generally limited to large pots. If hardware is used it would be shoot and scoot, to remove evidence from the scene immediately.

In general, high-tech methods provide the most information, but if apprehended, the evidence is undeniable.

Hearsay is a statement offered to prove the truth of the matter asserted therein. Heresy is the rejection of established beliefs of a religion. Heresay is not a word, with or without a dash.

Hey guys, Matthew Parvis here. I run the PokerNews live reporting teams and I just wanted to chime in for a moment. I can assure all the players that our live reporting staff has never been involved with altering the integrity of the game. It is discussed in all of our discussions and training of staff.

If one our reporters said something to a player about seeing their cards, it was surely done with the players protection in mind.

I feel confident that if there was any problems with poker media at any events, it was certainly not with our team.

Now we'll know to tell media people behind us in Europe to back off if they're too close.

Thanks for posting this, Shaun. Seriously. Everyone criticizing him should STFU.

wasn't it a pokernews reporter who asked (told?) for a mucked hand to be turned over at this wsop?

What if you hear someone contradicting the beliefs of an established religion and repeat it in open court?

Dramabomb did not deliver, but a scary propsect to guard against.

How can you assure anyone of this?

Because you discussed it training?

Companies go over theft in their training, doesn't stop people from stealing from them. Not sure how you can be so sure of this.

Or are you just assuring everyone you just haven't caught anyone yet?

I cant say what shaun says, comes as a suprise.
You only need to look at, how close spectators are to some of the tables at most events, including the WSOP, nevermind the media etc.
Where theres substantial amounts of money involved, cheating in some form or another will be attempted.
