I think 1500 start stacks is fine, but they should have gone to the smoother, 10-min blind model ages ago for reg-speed so it didn't have horrible jumps and making the turbos the same model, but at 5 mins, would've given a bit more early stage play too. If they ran the big blind levels from 20/30/40/50/60/80/100... you'd be at the 100 level after 60 mins instead of 45 (which also means extra late registration for the On Demands which are not filling up fully anyway). I'd even be open to some form of variable structure (8mins/10mins/12mins for Regs and 4mins/5mins/6mins for Turbos) if it was smooth like the regular MTT structure, but you wanted to keep the early stages play from getting too long. It is not so substantially different, but over the course of the tourney itself would give about an extra 30-40 mins of play for the final few guys. And a much smoother experience. Plus, of course, the pay tables are horrible for tourneys this size. Should pay 12% maximum. Turbos obviously you can just split those numbers in half. As for the Rebuys, you'd be looking at a 5000 chip stack at 50/100 to start the Freezeout period assuming a double rebuy and add-on right before break.
And... of course bring back some leaderboard incentives. You have mostly some variation of regular playing them anyway. So what's the harm if some of the better regs are brought back in due to a leaderboard? And if you reward results, then lucky recs can still have a shot any given week. Especially if you cap the games that can count so volume itself doesn't matter as much. For example: say your top 10 finishes count towards the leaderboard, but ONLY from your FIRST 50 or 100 games that week. So if you wanna grind out 300 games a week, go for it, but your first batch will be the ones that count towards a leaderboard... so it keeps it a level playing field for someone who only wants/can play 5 or so per day. You could even pay out in T$ (or a cash prize for top 3, then sliding scale of T$ for top 50), if the reward is a decent number people will still be happy because these are people who play tourneys anyway.
I dunno... I think that would totally overhaul the SNG system for the better and I don't think you'd have too many top MTTers coming back to grind/kill them unless you made the leaderboard prizes insanely good, which they should only be a nice little perk based on the limit they're paying, not millions of dollars.
I know it won't happen... but I started typing and didn't stop, so I guess I'm posting it.
