i disagree. i don't think he even needs an ssd (shock-horror!) i mean he's a baller and may as well get a big-ass one anyway because he can and they're cool, but he doesn't strictly-speaking need one; otoh, he definitely does need a GPU better than bottom of the range (that has 2x dual dvi) - they can't all handle 2x 30" at full res

I think even the cheapest card having 2x dual dvi will mean it'll be far better and more expensive then ur bottom priced vid cards w/just 1 dual dvi. For me once i got like 500k hands hem started getting really, really slow and actually slowed to a crawl that it wouldn't even work, although it could be the fact my pc has a dual core that was middle of the road 2.5 yrs ago. Others swear by ssds, I haven't gotten one yet. A 7200 rpm 500 hdd is $90 while an intel sata 2 120 gb sdd is $190 seems like from what I've heard that $100 is well worth it. Anyone can always add their old hdd to a new pc for data, that's what I plan to do.

I don't have money to throw away on something you don't even need except to brag you got the biggest CPU on the block. Spend those $$$ and save the economy. Hooray.

1) Most gaming chairs seem to look like that and I'm desperately in need of a chair where I can really lean backwards. I've never really seen poker players have chairs like that, is there any reason I shouldn't buy one?

2) What's the metal thing called that pushes the monitors forward in an angle that tilts them forward like this / ? Where can I buy that metal piece, where am I supposed to attach it, is it difficult, what tools do I need, are there any products that are better than others for that, etcetc?

oh Deuce are you saying you can have 3 screens just from your laptop? thats impressive (im not one for overlap and using table ninja).

I connect one via VGA but it doesnt seem practical... I mean, if I travel am I really gonna take an extra screen? I have before but its awkward... and 1 laptop screen seems too small too grind and so i would only do serious sessions on the desktop.

when technology improves maybe we can get some sort of really super light flat even foldable screens??... then we could grind from anywhere using multiple displays. anyone know a super light portable display?

Upgrading from laptop to desktop for the first time ever. I'm currently running a 24" Samsung P2450 monitor from the laptop and want keep a 2 screen set up when the desktop gets delivered. Not sure whether to order another P2450 or whether there are better monitors out there for about £150-£200?

What SSD and HDDs are they? Sorta worrying that it doesn't say - who's the supplier?

CPU is probably overkill; if you're going to be utilizing that monster, i.e. overclocking and/or hardcore gaming/video editing/etc, you should get an aftermarket cooler.

I tend to go for fancy RAM (though kingston is certainly well-regarded). Be aware that internal wireless adapters sometimes have problems when the signal is weak, because of the proximity of lots of metal, and that a usb option (with an extension) is often your best bet. I like the DLink DWA-140.

Thanks for the reply wazz. SSD is manufactured by SanDisk and the HDD by Seagate, neither of which I have any experience of but reviews appear good. Would be interested to hear any first hand views though.

Definitely downgrade. Depending on your exact usage, I would go for the i5 2320.

Consider doing a little research and refining your choice of SSD and HDD. the 1TB samsung F3 (HDD) is only £40 or something, and has very good reviews. I've built 4 PCs this year, including one for myself, all of them with the F3, and they all seem to be doing very well. In terms of SSD, which you should get depends greatly on your usage needs and the requirement for reliability. My Intel 320 is one of the highest-rated for reliability, but isn't as fast as some of the more modern ones, of which there are loads. Spend a few hours reading reviews online and deciding what fits you best. A lot of the time, though, choosing computer components is made very difficult by a) the massive range of possibilities open to you and b) not knowing exactly what you need, what is overkill, what is good value to you, and what level of futureproofiing this offers you, so your best bets are either to flip a coin or ask people in the know, i.e. this thread.

honestly I don't remember. I dog sat for my parents a couple of years ago and remember hooking up 2 monitors. I don't remember if I used my laptop too. I'm 90% I didn't use my laptop monitor and just spread tables on 2 22s. Definitely if I travelled I'd just use one monitor. I haven't heard of any super light portable displays.

Will my Integrated Intel HD Graphics Card (HDMI, DVI, 1920 x 1080) be able to run a 30 inch monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution?

Yes you can run it almost 100% you can't run at full resolution. What's the model number of your motherboard?

Posting from new OS installed on new HD. Fwiw it did come with a mounting bracket which was a nice bonus. No in built Sata cable sucked tho.
Still installing everything so haven't noticed speed changes yet.

Definitely didn't sit right with me.

Any 24" with a newer version panel should be fine. Just look around your UK retailers.

to get the monitors to tilt you need a mounting bracket akin to the ones used for flat screen TVs. I would figure any major electronics retailer would carry mounting brackets for TVs from 15"-70" so look for those. Obv your monitor would have to be compatible with the bracket.

the chair I have has 3 adjustment levers, one to raise and lower the seat, one tilts the seat forward and back and the 3rd lever adjusts the back rest. I can tilt myself damn near 45 degrees from vertical.

Find a chair that allows for multiple adjustments. Mine was $250 like 6 years ago and it's still fantastic.
