Never considered that option.. thanks man. Also in the stars client under the View tab, checking the "Apply to active monitor only" works too for anyone trying to default tile in the future... it can get very tilting

Hi guys,

I am not very familiar with this topic, so maybe someone could help me out. I'm looking for a new monitor. I already have a 30" and my second one stopped working this morning. I have no idea if I should look for a 28" UHD (3840 x 2160) or a 27" (2560 x 1440). The price isn't that much different (~500-600€).

Is there any problem playing poker with UHDs? Any experiences or advices?

Thanks in advance!

-Kuta

ive been doing some research and im about to order this desktop:

Power: Super Flower - 500W - 80+ GOLD - Non-modular
Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz LGA1150 6MB BOXED
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H
Graphics: Sapphire Dual-X R9 280 3GB GDDR5 OC PCI-E 3.0+NSF Space Edition
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.5V
SSD: Crucial 256GB MX100 2.5" SSD MLC SATA III

I want to be able to run Win8.1 on two monitors 2560:1440 res, 3-5 pokersites + PT4. Would also like to play CS:GO and some newer games. this should be good for my needs and serve me several years right? Is there anything im missing?

Id suggest getting the samsung 850 evo SSD and an nvidia card but if you cant its still pretty good for poker and games

I just recently bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When I tile tables on WPN, I can get up to 15 tables on max resolution with no overlap. (3x5)

I'm probably going to make this monitor my secondary monitory. Anyone have any recommendations on monitors with higher resolution which can tile 16+ (20 would actually be preferable) tables with no overlap.

What is your preference between a lg34uc97 monitor or 2 dell u2715h in portrait mode ?

Is better more tables in width or in height ?

I'd like to play 16tables ideally

can anyone recommend a laptop:
well built, upgradeable, 1920*1080, good battery life. I5 + processor
as cheap as possible.

basically just want something decent to last for several years as cheap as possible with some upgrades. It will rarely be used.

Just saw this. In case you are going for a 4K-monitor, the first one you mentioned that is, you need a graphic card that have a DisplayPort-slot. They cost about 200 Euro, so just keep that in mind. Also, it doesn't go so well in combination with a second low-resolution-monitor, which is going to be better with windows10. You should also run Windows8.

But Poker in general with 4K is very nice. Tables + HUD skale well etc.

want to buy a good 27-28" as 2nd screen for my MBP

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA1CZ1UV0669

is this the one? Will travel a bunch with it, maybe better to take another one that's more travel friendly? Will this one fit my 30" suitcase?

Hi guys,

Trying to finalise my decision on a beastly(hopefully) gaming PC build and was hoping for some opinions on the spec. Obv run the usual poker stuff.

A few things worth noting.

This spec hits my budget of £1.5k. Computers and parts are more expensive in Thailand.
It gets really hot here so I am spending a bit extra on a corsair liquid cooler and I will likely be overclocking the CPU.
I have opted not to go for a 5th gen CPU and DDR4 memory as the money I would save from the CPU, motherboard and DDR4 memory I can buy Asus ROG Swift monitor 144 hz.
I am opting for 2x GTX 970 SLI GPU setup as opposed to the shops initial recommendation of 1 x GTX 980. I think for the extra performance boost v price difference it's good value.
Not sure I need 1000W PSU and not sure if I need 16 GB RAM but at this point I am going for it anyway.

Not been into gaming for ages but want to start again when I am hating poker.

So i'm quite interested what any gamers think of the 970 SLI dual as opposed to a single 980 and also my choice of going with a 4th gen CPU to keep me on budget and the spec in general and whether there is something glaringly obvious I have overlooked.

I am not a hardware expert and shop was recommended by a few foreigners that live in Thailand. The shop put together an initial spec and I made quite a few changes to it.

Going to be initially running it on a new dell U2715H 1440p(just came today..it looks pretty awesome) and dell 24" 1080p and possibly adding a ROG Swift in future although I have seen very good reviews from gamers about the U2715 so will see how things go.

check out jedicool and lazada as well, good experience with all of those sites. depending on how much baht/unit you are being charged, the 1000w platinum could pay for itself fairly quickly. Definitely going overkill on the parts though, if it were me, I would buy parts that give far more value (like I5 processor and easily replaceable (cheap but functional) motherboard, etc. Skylark, windows 10 ddr4 etc all seem to be right around the corner. 16 GB ram is definitely nice to have especially if you are running poker programs..

Ok thanks..i will check out jedicool and lazada.

Yeah was tempted to go for the DDR4 RAM but it's 20-30k baht more depending on the CPU, board and RAM I went for. But it was looking like 30k bht and i'm thinking getting ROG Swift monitor would give me more benefit than going the DDR4 route.

prolly stick with the 4790 and 2 GTX 970 GPU's

Going for more or less the same build in a few weeks. I went for gaming 5 instead of gaming 3 for motherboard, but difference is small.

As for the 970, I don't think you need both yet. Just one will be enough to play all games in high and 1440p. In a year or two, you can upgrade to SLI the second 970 (which will still be available but cheaper).

You can go for 800W instead of 1000W imo.

Hi all,

Looking to buy a desktop for poker only. I could write what i know about computers on the back of a stamp but I know I need the RAM, 8 or 16gb,
and also a decent graphics card but what other considerations should I looking at?

My plan is basically to buy one that has been set up for gaming as this should have everything i need to be running HEM/TN/multiple sites right?

Also I'm living in the Republic of Ireland if anyone knows of any good online resources other than donedeal. Hints, tips and recommendations all welcome

Thanks

ram is way more important than graphics for poker.

I'd say Ram -> CPU -> Graphic.

But maybe you want to play some actual games in super max detail look, than it's worth it

If you hold off for a few months, you would get a much better build for less than now, thats the benefit of holding off.

I have an R9 280x card and can run everything with max detail on 2560*1600 without any slowdown whatsoever, can't imagine needing more in this range.
