I just ordered a 4k monitor and I'm looking for a new laptop to run it. It's the 39" Seiki (just HDMI inputs). Will anything with a HDMI 1.4 output work? Looking at an Inspiron 15R or one of the similar Lenovo models. It seems like the Intel 4000/4400 chips should be sufficient.

Anybody know for sure?

I'm experiencing a lot of lag as of late when grinding 15+ tables using Hm2, Skype plus Internet. I'm running a external 24" Samsung Monitor off this as well. Basically, I am gonna be using it to primarily play online poker. I also love gaming so it should be able to handle most of the top end, popular games around with at least medium settings without any issue. Money is not that big an issue. I am willing to splurge if need be.

Friend has recommended a 27" iMac. While that is a solid option I guess, my concern is about the gaming. Would I be able to play all the top game titles around on an iMac?

I'm looking to get a dual monitor setup. I would ideally like the 2560x1440 resolution on both. 2 30s might work out to be a bit too expensive so I'm open to suggestions. Maybe a 30 and a 27? Or would 2 27s cut it? I've heard a 30 is much better than a 27.

My basic requirements/needs are i7 quad core, 8/16 gb ram, 1/2 TB hdd and a decent ssd for all the main stuff like os and the poker softwares. I'm lost on what to get for PSU, graphics card, coolers, motherboard, etc. I'd appreciate suggestions based on all the info I've provided.

I'm from India so if there's anybody who has country specific knowledge, would be great. Fyi, here in India, if we directly connect the comp to the wall socket, it wouldn't even last 5 minutes cause the power supply is extremely unstable, out of phase and erratic. So I'm gonna have to purchase a good UPS with stabilizer. Hence, what most ppl end up doing is, they ensure they get a good UPS w stabilizer and don't spend much on the PSU.

I'm hoping to get information on specific parts and recommended brands for them.

Help a fellow mtter out peeps.

you can play most sites on a mac (ipoker is the only one that doesnt work, that i know of), and even those who dont have a mac client can be run in windows parallels, which you can run in the background and therefore pretty much run windows apps in your mac interface etc.

although there are some problems with HUDs on sites that are run in windows parallels and youre prob still better off buying a windows system unless you really like macOS :P

You can play all sites on Windows 7. You can play video games much better on Windows 7.

and you can pay less money to do so.

2k is a truckload of money for a laptop so you should have no problem finding something.

It's got 2 video cards. Thats fine, just way more than you need. Its probably good enough to play any video game you want. It has a 1080 screen so that's great. No SSD, but that is tough to find on any cheaper system. Looks good for the price and will run 12 tables no problem.

necessary to run poker is basically a $500 system you can find for cheap on newegg which is what I constantly stress, but people keep posting great computers as asking if they can play on Stars with it.

may as well give them an idea of what they could do to make it better.

Thanks for the feedback. I should have mentioned that it isn't solely for poker, but everything. So I want it to be fast and crisp for everything.

These monitors seem great value for money and v high quality. I was thinking of picking up a Yamakasi from this article, after a bit of digging it seems you occasionally risk a couple of dead pixels getting it shipped from Korea but looks to be worth the risk. Anyone tried this brand, or any Korean models?

What laptop would you recommend that fits the very cheap, but good poker system if you don't mind me asking?

I prefer a large screen and to have four sites + TN/stack and tile, to 12-18 table if that means anything.

^^ literally any comp can run poker sites if thats all you want it to do. you'd be better off asking what comp can 4 table porn than 20 table poker.

Really? You mean i can buy one laptop and play poker?

What i'm asking is specifically something that isn't going to struggle when i multi-lobby, something that has a good display resolution, and something - in DoGGz' opinion - that would be a good model/make to buy.

But if any laptop can help me play poker then i'm off to to the laptop store now. I'll make sure to ask the salesman what will help me 4 table my porn and poker.

Buy one w/ 1080p+ screen res then (sreen size 15" or 17" depending on how your vision is and if you travel a lot, bigger if you've got the olds like me and smaller if you value the ease of portability)

Other important factors/qualities:

- Get one w/ a SSD indside (or buy and install one yourself) if u want ur laptop to boot/run tasks quickly and/or want ur HEM2/PTx database searches/**** to be quick/smooth
- Connectivity: Get one w/ displayport and/or thunderbolt -output if you're going to run high-res external monitor(s).
- Keyboard/touchpad: in general cheap laptops have ****ty keyboards/touchpads so if u tarvel a lot w/o external mouse/keyboard, get a laptop w/ solid ones. Test before buying.
- Battery life: If u tarvel a lot, get one w/ long battery life. If not, then it doesn't matter much.

Other than those, almost any new laptop will do. (processor, GFX-card, memory, in general are sufficient for pokering even at the very low end of the price ranges)
