Hi,

Currently have a HP g60 laptop ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/G62-105SA-15.../dp/B003BYRCNK ). I am using it coupled with a LG 21inch, 1920x1080 monitor.

I need some more screen space, from what I have read its gonna be pretty difficult to run 2 monitors off this laptop (although looks possible). Would I be able to run a 27inch 2560x1440 monitor using this laptop? ( http://www.thinclientwarehouse.co.uk...d-monitor.html ). Initially thought it would be fine, but I only have a VGA, USB and a HDMI slots on the laptop, so after reading this thread starting to have doubts!

Cheers!

This laptop looks great, but it's a shade out of my price range. Prices on the Vizio site tend to range from $900-1.2k depnding on spec.
Can anyone recommend something in range of $600-700?

Thanks for your help!

Hello guys, currently i'm using a 27" screen connected to my laptop . I just ordered a second 27" screen, what kind of splitter do i need to use both the 27" extended ?( the laptop led will be kept closed ). I thought I could connect one through VGA and the other through HDMI but i realised that the VGA and HDMI ports are way to close to eachother on my laptop which will make impossible for the 2 cords to connect at the same time.

I have an hp 30 inch monitor lp3065 I am looking at an alienware m17x r3 can i hook up this monitor and get full resolution. If so i assume i need an adapter can you recomend.

The video card is a Nvidia 560M grapics card which from what I see will support max resolution.

Mini-displayport -> Dual-link-DVI

At least Apple manufactures them but they're probably not the cheapest option.

so i normally use a desktop, but was gonna have to buy a laptop eventually because i want to start going to other countries for a few months to grind.

and on the new place im renting i have a much better space to grind at balcony which i cant do with desktop (would it be any issue to grind there with laptop?)

so was looking for a very decent laptop, i play 4tables, leave a bunch of stuff opened, and use a very demanding HUD. so i guess processor has to be vry good (i always tilt when pc freezes, and most do with me =/)

so im looking for a i7, i dunno how much ill need of RAM but i guess 4GB would sufice, and would like a laptop not for carrying around but for being stationy mostly so could weight a ton, and 17' screen at least i guess.
ill connect monitors to it (at least one)

what kind of price range should i be looking to expend? (i was thinking of 900-1100eur)
should i order it from uk? i live in portugal
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=4177#kf this one is 1,4k eur
http://www.imperiomultimedia.pt/comp...is/p2532s.html 950eur
looks overpriced?

I find a SSD has more impact on my HUD than processor.

I recommend you buy at least 8GB ram and if possible a laptop with an SSD disk. I assume you use PT4 so you would like a fast disk due to frequent database querying/updating. And there is no need to order it from UK. I also live in Lisbon and there are plenty of sites where you can buy a good machine, I think. Also ask for advice here in portuguese http://forum.zwame.pt/forumdisplay.php?f=136.

P.S. Though I never owned one, some of my truly geek friends swear for Lenovo Thinkpad laptops, they are ugly but super robust machines. Watch out for the new

THIS.

my win7 Vizio Thin and Light Ultrabook is super fast even with PT4, 9 tables, 4 browser tabs, music, etc etc....

the biggest difference maker is the SSD HD....everything loads so quickly.

You'll have to wait until April and maybe you have to order it from abroad since new products take a while to get to the market of this sh*thole country :-)

Size of the SSD is irrelevant as long as you don't have a GIGANTIC db (in which case you should prune it).

There are differences in quality and speed though:

according to website Crucial M4 is best.
So i can get the SSD 128GB Crucial M4 as 1st disk, and HDD 500GB 7200rpm Scorpio as 2nd disk. Seems like best option no?

Bear in mind you don't need the top scoring SSD, you just want one in that ballpark.

http://slickdeals.net/

That site has deals that are voted on by users, tons of SSDs. For instance yesterday Samsung 840 Pro was on sale, which is a great drive (it's not on that benchmark, I just grabbed 1st result on google search for SSD benchmark so look around).

*Also in post before I said size was "irrelevant" which is dumb. But basically as long as you're only needing the SSD for poker you can make do with a small one.

I have a 27" monitor running 2560 x 1440 16:9 http://www.overclock.net/t/1280755/r...cinema-display

I would like some additional monitors to either side of it to create a similar setup as the infamous 20/30/20. I have tried doing some research but am struggling to find a good answer to which ones I should choose.

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Lol I just loaded this thread to brag about my:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...ription&ref=cj

Pretty much same as yours. Anyway you need a dual-dvi port for each one of them which will involve finding video cards with multiple dual-dvi ports or having multiple video cards. Problem with multiple video cards is you'll need to make sure you have the proper slots for them (PCI-E etc) and that can get complicated. Your best bet is to email the person who sells the monitors or email a graphics card maker (XFX, Powercolor etc) but you're probably going to have to know what slots your motherboard has.

Hey all. I'm going to relocate to montreal soon so i could play on stars again.

I will be bringing my laptop with me which is small just a 14.1 one and thus i would prefer to play on a monitor where i could tile 4 tables with regular size and no overlap. My current monitor is the dell fp 2007 and i love it, its 1600x 1200 resolution. Of course i will not bring this with me. I used to play on a desktop and rarely use laptop. This was an old monitor i bought maybe 7 years ago and at that time, it was one of the best monitors for 1600x1200 resolution.

I will be buying a monitor online through amazon and have it ship to canada.

Would any of these monitors be fine? I see these are mostly 1920x1080 resolution and i never used that before. Is it better than 1600x1200 resolution? 1600x1200 resolution when 4 tabling is so good because it uses all the space and every table is original size and tiled. Would that be the same with these? Also are there any monitors that are left that do 1600x1200 resolution? I really am used to it so i dont really want to change the resolution.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-S20B30...=20%27+monitor

I'm pretty sure this and the dell fp2007 was one of the best monitors back then. Does anyone know if this is the one back many years ago that is very good? I see this is 20' monitor the samsung. But it says its 1600x900 resolution?

Also, sheesh did monitor prices lower a lot all these years? These are all 24' monitors and they all cost less than 200 dollars. The monitor i bought back then the dell fp 2007 cost me at least 500 when i bought it.
