Any particular reason? Dell of 5 years ago built plastic pieces of ****, but their laptops now aren't awful.

Site looks like a scam, but the program is legit. Run it on new laptops we get in at work.

past experiences with dells were pretty bad, but i haven't looked at a new one in 3-4 years so i guess i'll end up taking the plunge.

eta: just picked up an xps15, got almost 1/3 off the base price with black friday sales/coupons and a free $125 gift card (as i dont need another digital camera)

Storage Space. I have the one you listed and I wish I'd have gotten a 128 instead of 80.

When we are talking resolution, what we mean is the number of physical pixels that the screen has. You can only fit so much on the screen. You can take a 1080p resolution and stretch it across a 2560p (30inch monitor) screen, but you can't take a 2560p and cram it into a 1080p screen. So, if you want to run a high resolution, you need to have a screen capable of producing a high resolution.

It is common for screens to run at a 1:1 ratio of pixels/resolution (the maximum), but like I said, it's possible for screens to run at a lower resolution than the maximum.

For your question, you'd have to tell us how big a mini table is.

edit: if that wasn't clear, it's impossible for a pixel to display more than one color, so if you tried to cram a 2560p resolution on a 1080p screen you'd just get a garbled mess as each pixel would be required to show multiple colors or a blurry blend of colors.

I need a new laptop and don't know anything about computers. Doggz is a good poster , so i think I'm just gunna get this unless someone wants to convince me to get something else in the next 48 hours!

Edit: Doggz you got any rec's for even better value/cheaper laptops? Don't need anything high end, the only thing I need to make sure it's capable of is 25 tabling stack so graphics/speed has to be at least good enough for that.

Do you stack all of them? If so then you could go to a lower end screen and save money. I'm sure there will be some sick deals tomorrow.

I stack most of them but occasionally like to pull out a few tables so I might have 4 tiled tables up front and a stack of 20 behind one of them.

Change your res to 1600x900 (if you can) and tell me if that is too big or too small for your 4 table tile.

Not on my own laptop so can't check. If it's gunna be close I'd rather just get the higher end screen resolution so if my preferences change and I wanna tile one day I can. Also, I kinda want an anti-glare screen.

+ another 24' monitor and u have great dual-setup... but... why is it available only in sony usa store?

Does your laptop video card support dual-DVI? If not, than you'll never be able to push a 30".

Hmm thats weird because at a minimum the alienwares should able to run 1920 x 1080 on the U3011- the monitor goes into power save mode when its getting no signal so im kinda confused. I use mini-display port to displayport adapter- assume u do as well

Hey guys, I got this CPU for my birthday and like it so far.. Only knock on it is the graphics card, is it possible to change the graphics card in an all-in-one cpu like this? Can't really find anything online, thanks.

Stands for solid state drives. They are supposed to be more reliable and run faster because you don't have a physical disk spinning like in a traditional hard drive. Hard drive speed is the primary factor holding back a lot of performance and this can help with that when you set it up with certain programs that you access often on the drive.

To anyone saying "you don't need a top of the line computer to play poker online and browse 2p2," (not just this thread i read this sentiment all the time in threads like this) really? I and many other poker players spend a huge majority of our lives on a computer, it is the one component completely necessary for my job, and when i'm on it i'm usually playing music, tv shows, downloading torrents, 30 tabling+holdem manager+multiple sites and doing whatever else simultaneously, if we aren't the primary market for souped up machines then who the hell is? Why poker players constantly skimp when it comes to hardware is beyond my realm of comprehension, I just cannot believe the number of people who don't run backup power units, backup internet, multiple computer options, or play on older machines. Theoretically we have a lot of expendable income and spend a **** ton of time on a computer doing a billion things at once, why wouldn't you invest in a super high quality machine?

Not to mention the fact that many poker players also are gamers (and this is actually one area where it actually doesn't matter, playing one game on low settings will pretty much give me the same excitement/enjoyment in life as something that can run some stupid FPS clone at super high settings), are going to make videos (think of all the coaching videos that require video editing software), edit photographs etc. which all benefit from a better computer. I realize the sentiment comes from people who constantly say "oh its fine, you can get by with xxx computer if you just use it for poker and browsing 2p2, poker sites use up no resources!" but its really scary just how truly bad this advice is, use your brain we ARE the top echelon of people that top of the line computers are needed for when I have 20 programs running simultaneously and if one of them lags/****s up it potentially could cost me hundreds/thousands of dollars.

not possible, for you anyway. the reason it has a ****ty graphics card is because it doesn't have a graphics card! lol. you have a graphic chip on your motherboard and it steals memory from the RAM. good graphics cards are huge and wouldn't fit in an all-in-one PC. it's a neat computer, looks pretty slick, but not meant for very intense computing.

There is a huge difference between power and reliability. What you really should cherish is reliability. Nobody is saying things like backup internet is a bad idea, but I am saying that paying for a huge CPU is not required.

You have to remember that not everyone is as well off as you may be. Spending $500 more on a PC than is required isn't in the interest of all poker players. It's all a personal assessment wrt the utility of $500 into a powerhouse PC vs into saving/partying/traveling/car payment.

I've personally only made one high price item recommendation for both performance and reliability: SSD. I think you are misguided if you think a modern midrange PC cannot coast through all the tasks you listed.

But, you did bring up an interesting point that we should dive into: What uncommon items are hugely +ev that most players may overlook:

Large/Multiple Backup power supplies. The $300+ cost will pay for itself no question if you live in an area that is prone to power outages. Make sure your modem/router is on backup power as well and have enough power so that you could play for at least 3 hours if need be. I'm up probably $5k lifetime because of my backup power.

A second computer. This one is only for the ballers. I'm sure all of us have been in the situation at least once - having your main computer die. Depending on the problem, it could be days/weeks until you get it fixed. Just having a cheap backup PC or a combo PC/laptop will make sure you don't need to take an impromptu vacation. +ev for highrollers.
