Hey guys,

I'm looking for a monitor to play around 6-12 tables at a time, and watch the occasional movie/play some Xbox. I'm in the very early stages of looking and haven't really zeroed in on a size/budget because I'm not really sure what I need for my playing habits. Right now I'm using a 21.5 inch Samsung at 1900 x 1080 resolution. How much of a difference is there in the higher resolutions and/or what would be necessary for my needs? I've looked at everything from 24-30 inches, and also considered a two monitor setup (likely 2 24's). Just hoping you guys could share some general information, or give me some recommendations, thanks.

Was considering getting a PC built like this....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...ht_6807wt_1139

But I now prefer to try to find something similar in a laptop without paying way more. Haven't been able to find much yet, any idea of what to look for?

I bought the 13" MacBook Air some weeks ago and i think its by far the best hardware i've ever had. Its so awesome to travel around anywhere and be able to instagrind w/o power supply or a mouse. It's also nice to walk through the appartment on a long Sunday and not feel locked in front of my pc.

I'm still figuring some stuff out though (hud etc).

Will the 24inch monitors have a better quality picture than the 28inch monitor below? I am also correct in thinking I wont be able to fit any extra tables on the 28 inch monitor than the 24?

24 inch

28 inch

Dunno about picture quality per se, but if u look at em from same distance the picture will prolly look sharper on the smaller display.
They have same max resolution = they can fit same amount of tables.

The only reason to buy 28" at that res is if ur myopic or for some reason u need to assembly the display far from where u sit.

Edit: Also, when comparing monitors, u might want to pay attention to what kinda connectivity or what type of panel they have.

Need a bit of advice for how to best use a TV as a monitor... obv this could mean i have to compromise a bit but it was cheap and its here... so

its a Samsung 26'' model no. LE26R73BD from googling it have found resolution stated as 1366 x 768. my PC resolution is currently set on 1024 x 768... there are two other setting but neither is supported by this TV. If I can find a graphics card which will allow me to use a higher res and the TVs HDMI port then all good, but i'll admit to being somewhat of a technophobe so unsure of which would be best.

Would i then be able to have a two monitor setup if each monitor is running on a different res?

all advice apreciated thanks

more information on your PC would help. You can add a 2nd monitor by either upgrading your existing video card or buying a USB VGA adapter.

Given your tech knowledge and the output resolution needed for your TV its prob best you get a USB VGA adapater for the simplest solution.

thanks...

PC is running windows 7. I'm using an old graphics card since my last blew up... its got both VGA and DVI outputs so it runs both screens but not seperately. What else do you need to know?....

it does sound like this usb adapter may be fine for the purpose, still be nice to know all my options though

Hey guys,

Looking to build a new desktop, but I don't know much about computers. I need something reliable that will let me run up to 30 tables with HEM, Skype, Firefox, Windows, etc with no lag on two monitors.

Most probably buying from this site. Hoping to get all components (including SSD) + another monitor for < $2k. Any input / advice appreciated:

Yeah when I got my one built I looked at newegg and pretty sure it didn't help me being in Aus.

Ferny, there's an independent computer retail shop in Aspley that build on site, it's only 20mins drive from your house I would think. I got mine built there and 2 years later it still runs like a dream. Beauty of it is also that you also have the support there from real computer professionals if something goes wrong. I went in there, told them exactly what I needed and 2 days later it was built at a cheaper price than the equivalent specs in Harvey Norman type stores. I even told them it was largely going to be used for poker softwares etc so it needed to run well with multiple programs running.

If it seems like something you'd be keen on, PM me and I'll give you more details on skype/aim. It'd be worth at least going in and having a chat to them imo and get a quote.
