DiVita was told he could withdraw but if he didn't he would be suspended and not be able to play the Main Event. So his "withdrawal" can hardly be considered voluntary.

That's not at all my stance. I don't think they should have let him play the satellite if he's not gonna be eligible to play in the main event and I've said that many times (not itt, in person during the tournament when asked about it by evertone).

I don't believe that this is how he's coming across / the argument he's making... He's acknowledging that his opinion is "tainted" based on him being the recipient of the seat (basically announcing that there may be perception of conflict) and then saying that all public statements have been that the guy "withdrew"...

I'm not sure how that turned into your statement here...

OT

obviously they should not let him play the satellite if he's not eligible to play the main event, but that is not relevant to the issue at hand, since they did let him register the $1500. pardon me for assuming you were saying the EPL taking his seat was acceptable - what is your stance about the EPL taking his 20k seat and not compensating him with $20k?

this is a thread about poor decision making by the EPL in confiscating devita's seat without properly compensating him. most of the posts in this thread were made to condemn that decision. xaston made two posts in this thread where he made no mention of it being a bad decision, twice mentioning that he was the sole benefactor of this decision and then reiterating annie duke's explanation, seemingly in support of her actions. thus i believed that he was posting in approval of the decision because it benefited him, since him winning the saet made him think differently about the situation.

I cant believe all the replies in this thread. The guy is a ****ing child molester, not once but twice. Until someone shows paper proving it was an almost legal girl lying or providing false info about her age to him, **** him. Comparing his charges to any other crime is ******ed. $0.25 bullet for people like him is all they deserve.

Dont get me wrong I am as disgusted by people like that as you are but he won the seat fair and square, so it dosent matter what crimes he has committed.
It's a slippery slope when EPL starts to police who can and cant play.

it doesnt matter how big of a scumbag piece of garbage he is, he put up his money and won the seat, idk if you're aware but you have to be 21+ to be in a vegas casino, who exactly is he going to molest at an epl event? Its absolutely irrelevant regardless of how big a piece of **** he is.

+1, easy to see what happened here is wrong, and regardless of whether or not you benefit that is pretty clear and should be easy to acknowledge. If I was given 20k in equity at the expense of someone else in a similar situation, not only would I hesitate to take it and play the tournament, at the very least I would acknowledge the ridiculousness of it instead of seemingly defending it. That being said I don't expect others to hold themselves to those same moral principles, and I think taking the seat is somewhat fine, that being said at least recognize you are the beneficiary of something outrageously unjust.

I think you are reading into his comment too much. Not sure why Xaston posted, but he's not obligated to come in here and condemn the decision, and he wasn't offering approval of the situation either.

I read it like a BBV post, which just added a little flavor to the thread but not much substance.

Pretty gross, also looks like EPL is going to have to return him the value of the prize he won. If they don't, what a dangerous precedent for the league and a reason to stay far far away
