not much of a read on the guy. Should I save this flop play for when I have a read, or when its vs. a later position raise? I figured a c/r was better than a call since hes checking behind so many turns when im still a head and given the overpaired board im more vulnerable (which is prolly another argument for just folding), but damnit, I liked my pair! Im also interested in my bet sizing on the turn and river once I hit. I didnt wanna bet too much on the turn in case he was drawing at a flush , but I didnt know what to bet .

i've seen a couple of the smarties say that c/r the flop in situations like this is not so great in NL (this is a standard c/r in limit, obv). it's a pretty expensive way to find out that villain has an overpair. plus, often i'd guess that if villain is folding to a flop c/r, he's folding to a good size flop lead? so if you want to make a move like that, maybe just lead the flop instead.

anyway, you turn g00t, so now the goal is to try and get your stack in. you both have about $105 left and a $40 pot after the flop action. your bet looks pretty good, as it appears to offer attractive drawing odds if villain has or whatever, and it leaves you with about a PSB behind for rivers like this one.

Bet $5-6 to flop/fold to raise is standard here.

Personally I lead flops like this with everything from a set to a flush draw, so I'd lead here and fold to a raise.

c/r is ok as long as you realize you're turning your hand into a bluff. it doesn't matter that you have 44. i'd much rather have KQ (and trust me, there's nothing more fun than turning a Q and stacking TT) because it can improve. unless he's loose/passive and will call with A high or a draw, and then check it down, 44 is among the very worst hands you can have here

it's not a great flop to c/r because of all the draws present. he'll put you on a draw much more quickly than he'll put you on trips, so you might get floated. but i don't think your typical nl100 player will mess with you too much if he missed, so it's fine since he's very unlikely to have hit the flop.

as you move up though, i'd stay away from flops like this. aggressive players won't hesitate to float or 3-bet you. no shame in c/f as your hand is very mediocre equity-wise because of counterfeit cards. c/c is ok vs straightforward people and i'll sometimes c/c, then c/r vs someone who 2 barrels a lot

i made a >&lt))*> call vs a raise with 44 on a similar board the other day and turned a 4 vs AA. [censored] like that makes you love nl
