Yeah this kinda kept going on and felt a lot more repetitive and plodding (to take a word from Zack) and just something that was ok for background but I'd probably switch it off halfway through.
Okay so I had to find like a completely different link to actually hear the singer so that sucked. That being said, it didn't get much better. I'm so tilted by the mixing.
Didn't really know anything about this song until LordQuas gave me some background on it. Apparently it was about a friend that got killed by a drunk driver etc, too lazy to find the PM. That definitely gives it a lot more weight and makes it a lot more of an emotional song. Eep.
I was talking to Zack about this and basically said that this song gains so much of it's impact from the backstory. (tl;dr Kesha got into a legal battle with her producer re: sexual harassment and lost and was forced to work with her attacker for x years and the contract finally ran out and this was her first release without him).
So I mean, it's an incredibly powerful song. Choked me up the first time I heard it at least, especially keeping the former reason in mind. It's a good one.
Tbh this song is kinda bumping, but I hate that I have to watch the video to see the lyrics. That being said, really cool video. I actually kinda dig this.
I have such a sweet spot for REM. My mom loved them so we had so many cassettes of their stuff and listened to them basically throughout childhood. This is no exception. I like this a lot.
