We're assuming that VCD is the vig, correct? I can understand why the aliens wouldn't kill him, namely because he asked for angel protection so they were worried about wasting a NK, but if he wasn't the vig, shouldn't the real vig have taken it upon himself to kill VCD?

Actually I take that back, after re-reading the OP the angel sacrifices himself by protecting a player, so it would be to the aliens advantage to take a shot at VCD, either killing the vig or the angel assuming that VCD was telling the truth. So right now, I'm beginning to lean alien on VCD, he shouldn't be alive right now if he was telling the truth.

ya i remember Vaya claimed it and thinking... why would a vig role claim d1.

his reason of "i wanted to make a kill tonight" doesn't make sense as the wolves still wouldn't know it was him, right? And then if he wanted he could make the claim at a later date and ask for an angel, and then get 2 more shots off.

conclusion: Vaya is either vanilla drawing attention from the vig and seer or he's a wolf himself.
