All of POG is able to behave and know and understand that open quitting in the middle of a game because you're just not feeling it anymore is not ok except for him.

He's not going to get a comprehensive list of all the things he might be able to do to get himself in trouble just to find one that isn't on the list and do that.

Angleshooting a game after a POG ban should be zero tolerance.

Gah, this is I think one of magic's problems, he sees an ambiguity in the rules and exploits it, which imo he can do without punishment because them's the rules, even if it's against the spirit of the game. Me suggesting ground rules was trying to get around this but I can see why that might not work.

Re: WW Court Version 1 - The Deliberations

and could someone who hates playing with MG maybe articulate what it is that makes it so horrible to play with him in general? no one has explained, unless i missed it, and i'm just not getting it from my experience playing with him. aside from the rules violations, what makes him such a net negative to the forum as a player?

Re: WW Court Version 1 - The Deliberations

game mods can make individual decisions about whether to have him in games

Why isn't this just the rule for everyone anyway? Putting him on double super secret probation seems silly.

The previous punishment hasn't worked so why will anything new work but I don't think he's done anything to warrant a perma ban. Yeah we haven't liked his play but there are others who act worse in games but b/c they don't quit on their team that's ok?

I'm not a fan of his and I don't want to play with him again either but it's not hard for a mod to just say no.

gad--I think reoffending is consistent behavior with what got him punished in the first place. ie damn it you're doing it in again gazz.

He quits games is the only issue I have.

I wonder what % of poggers we could get rid of if bans were done by simultaneous majority votes.

I guess it would result in groups joining up to vote for each other.

i have enjoyed playing survivor with him. so a POG ban past ww is what I was against. i've never played ww with him so have no opinion on that.

This whole post is good, and the last sentence is perfectly fair. I suspect that in application it will work differently, however, and that people will jump on magic for things that would go entirely (or mostly) unremarked as just part of the normal course of a thread if someone else did them.

Asking him to be a model poster is unfair btw

He is who he is

It should be if he misses one game day or sabatoges his team in any way

But the model poster clause is both pompous and unfair

Violating the spirit of the rules just because it's not spelled out is angleshooting.

There are lots of people I dislike playing with much, much more.

I have enjoyed playing with magic, yes. I have also been frustrated by him. This doesn't make him much different than most of POG.

After speaking with well named and TL I believe "model" poster is to applied somewhat loosely.

We're certainly not talking about circumventing a profanity filter or anything like that.

i know people will say this is sometimes a valid strategy but there is a line where it is no longer ok and these are all judgement calls anyway so it wouldn't be any different.
I'm sorry

The entire problem is people trying to find a way to get around the rules. The game is simple, in spirit. Don't be a douchebag and play fair.

Aside from rules violations? That's an odd way of asking for this.

Except for the things you hate about him... what do you have about him?

Sure, I'm not saying it isn't and I'm not saying that gazz should get away with his actions and, by and large, he hasn't. He got a suspension and served it. I'm merely trying to find the best way in which he can become a part of the community because, as I said via PM, I think he can, before we cast him out into the wilderness.

Succintly said.

(Although I didn't know that missing one game day was such a huge deal. I missed multiple game days in Inception because I was out of town. I let the mod know about it and offered to sub out, but my absence still must have had a deleterious effect on the game. I can see consistently missing gamedays being grounds for modkill or w/e, but just missing one game day? I dunno if that's so transgressive as to justify a permaban in any scenario. Real life happens.)
