The singularity approaches. Spam bots are now smart enough to rand and start codemanes games

Ok I just thought of a new variant. Random list of 25 words with no colors assigned. Spymasters bid in turns, each saying the number of words they can correctly clue from the list. At some point, one spymaster can challenge the other instead if bidding higher. Challenged spymaster gets a point if successful, otherwise challenger gets the point.

New round starts. Whatever team starting the bidding last round now bids second. New list of 25 random words. Switch spymasters as well, maybe.

Play to 4 points or something

Oh challenged spymaster sends their intended list to the other before cluing to keep everything on the up and up

Probably needs to be played as a turbo.

I could play a turbo in a couple hours maybe.

What time should be allotted? In my experience 5 minutes gets really tough when you have 4 words or more to guess.

I was thinking about a variant.

9 red
9 blue
5 neutral bonus words
2 assassin words

In this variant the 5 neutrals are 2 point bonus words. Either team can clue for them. The game ends when one team has 9 of their own colour words You get 1 point for all your own words and 2 points each for bonus neutral words. Most points wins. So, a team may not want to finish there 9 words if it meant they would lose on the point tally...

You could guess as many as you like on your turn. Assassins don't end the game. They only end your turn.

The neat thing would be that spymasters would need to compete for going after neutral words along with their own words, but the other team would not know which words were neutral. So, do you jump on a missed word by the other team (hoping it is a bonus word), or stay away from it. Do you leave bonus words until the end, or go early for them? Or, do you mix them in?

Could be fun..

2v2 i guess?

bid in thread?

presumably the clue will be ready to go once the bidding takes place, so a couple more minutes to guess seems fine

AK's seems pretty cool as well.

Maybe something like 5 min + 1 min for every clue over 4 for auction codenames.

AK's could be played slow.

I'll probably put up a thread in a little while to see if we can get turbo auction codenames going.

if i'm understanding this correctly, seems like you could just do a 0 clue for both assassins and be very likely to win imo

But why zero clue assassins? The other spymaster would spend his/her time getting the neutral bonus words. The only penalty an assassin has is that it is a turn-ender, just as picking the other team's words would be a turn-ender. So really, the assassins become the only 2 neutral words.

I guess you could put in a -2 for hitting an assassin, to make them more penal.. In fact, that would probably be a good idea.

Going 1st seems like a huge advantage in AK's format.

oh, i didn't realize guess the other team's words would be a turn ender, but i read pretty fast
