This does seem to be happening quite a bit and is problem.

Might be worth brainstorming ways other than bans to improve the situation. I'm not sure I have a lot of good ideas, but here are a couple of thoughts --

1. A lot of the time the person posting the signup thread is pretty invested in playing and as such could take extra initiative to 'herd the cats', noting when people need to re-confirm their ins, notifying people when it has filled, that sort of thing. With Tatiana there isn't always someone taking charge like a mod.

2. Perhaps people could post their skype or whatever instant notification method is standard in the signup thread so they can be pinged?

3. Maybe the in period should be shortened from 1 hour. It doesn't seem to me that this will help a lot, but if people are only on 2+2 for 20 or 30 minutes, maybe something like that makes more sense. At the same time, when you're in for 3 or 4 hours hoping for one to fill that's a lot of reconfirms...

More and better ideas?

I think the 30 minute idea is good. Of course there will also be people who complain about having to reconfirm, but whatever

I don't think there's a problem with longer ins if you specify it. I in-ned for more than an hour before, and don't remember any problem. But posting something like "still here", "let's go", "finally" shouldn't be too much to ask, if you want to play a game turbo based on reading and typing.

we should eliminate the others without mercy

and the mods don't have to keep track of anything, the turbo players can easily report it each time. there can be a thread for it or something
why should the mods have to do anything?

if someone misses a turbo, put them on probation

if they miss again, just don't rand them anymore

I am not a fan of this

I remember a sign up thread a while ago where someone (think it was Rawrs) tried not randing you into the player list after you signed up

Just seems like this would cause more problems then it would solve

I remember this and it was for this exact reason.

He was randed it back to back games and posted a grand total of like 5 times combined. Including 0 posting d2 as the last wolf once.

Maybe the turbo regs could compile a standard first post for signup threads that can be cut and pasted?

"Sign up below for a TURBO game of werewolf by posting "In" or something equivalent. Signup rules:

1. Your "in" is good for 30 minutes unless you specify otherwise. Be clear if you are going to specify something else. "In until 9:00" is good. "In forever" is marginal. ":55" by itself isn't real clear.

2. If you change your mind and don't want to play, post "out" or something similar in this thread.

3. You may wish to share skype or other information if you want notice other than the PM generated when the turbo starts. Nobody is under any obligation to contact you, this would only be as a courtesy"

Something like that?

I would suggest limiting the time you're allow to "in" until. For example, I don't think you should post "in all night, just Skype me when it rands" and expect it while just be randed with you even if it takes 4 hours.

If you lynch a non poster, the game gets slightly less ruined. Maybe do that at a higher rate going forward?
Werewolf LC Thread Quote

It already ruins the game by having to change your whole lynch because of the person who's not there

And we often do have to do that reluctantly. And it sucks

Okay guys, here's what I suggest. You could try it for a short time.

Whoever rands the turbo PMs the other eight players to say "thread up" and requests read receipts. If he doesn't receive 8 back after 15 minutes, he starts a sub thread.

If players no show for d1, you put them in a turbo no show thread that I will sticky for you for the time being. You guys police that but something like: Player, date, link to thread. I'd like to ask the player concerned to post a reason/excuse in that thread too. Make those the only posts in that thread. One post for the no show, one post for the reason.

We're not going to do systematic punishments. **** happens, we all know that. But we won't allow people to continually ruin games.

Oh also, Killer_kill's ban has ended. It's a bit early but I know he's a keen turboer and would like to play in the series. That's fine.
