THE WEREWOLF DATABASE
It is finally here.
More than a year ago I had a dream of making this happen. In early 2011 I spent 3 weeks on collecting data for the original database which only contained a record of affiliations and win/losses. Despite not containing more data than this though, it still resulted in a lot of discussion. With the help of some extraordinary and hard working people, the database has been entirely redone the past few months and is now much more advanced which I hope will lead to further and much more well informed ww strategy discussion. I also hope that people will think of it as both a fun tool for looking at your own stats as well as a useful tool when playing to look up stats and games from your fellow players. Please do not treat it as gospel of people's ww abilities though.
The database tracks and provides stats on almost anything possible with the following having been collected as data: game name, game date, game type, game mod, game length, affiliation, role (mainly differentiated between seer/vig/angel and alt. variations of these), cause of death / survival, subbing in and out.
The stats are divided into several categories in the database that you can toggle between, for example "Lynch" and "Sub" stats. With most of these categories you will have the ability to set your own filter for # of games (standard is 20). For the relevant categories you will also be able to filter by game type. At the bottom of each category page, you will find definitions of the various stats.
With regards to the perfection of the database, we've strived to make it as perfect as possible, but 100 % perfection is of course an impossibility. There will be some minor entry mistakes, but hopefully you can help us remove all of these by kindly pointing them out in this thread (at least, this will be the standard procedure for now). Also, please let us know if we've missed any gimmicks.
It should furthermore be pointed out that you will find a few games missing in the database that we've classified as non-werewolf games. Examples are sixfour's Starcraft, essedarius' OZ and resnicks BloodBath game.
As for the future of the database, we can reveal that we will actively be working to improve it and update it. A few things that you can expect in later versions: merging of gimmicks with main accounts, all roles added (such as poisoner, godfather, role blocker etc.), game summaries, eod and beginning day post #, player death post #, votes, aliases and more.
Here is an alphabetically ordered list of people that are responsible for making all of this happen through various methods (I'm very sorry if I forgot anyone, I'm not typing this post on my own computer, so I can't rely on my notes):
Cueballmania
Evene
Felix the Cat
G0tGame?
gtpitch
JimHalpert
knightrunnermat
Nofear3838
Thingyman
TimeLady
well named
And I would give a special shout-out to
Krayz without whom this would've not been possible. He is the master coder - the database is by his design. He is simply awesome.
Please do not forget to say thanks to these people as some of them have put a ton of hours into this.
