Ok I do have some free time today and most nights this week, so this may be the best time for me to do this. So here goes

I am 36 years old and single. I lived with a girl for 5 years but she had a rare disease called familial amyloidosis and passed away in November 2005 at 29 years old. I have been a manager at Costco, Target, and A.J Wright (a subsidiary of TJ Maxx), so can answer any questions about those businesses or about retail management in general. I have a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and a Masters Degree in Math Education.
I am Jewish, not ovely religious, especially since 2005, but I love to talk about all kinds of religion - in fact my favorite paper I wrote in undergrad was a paper disproving the creation story in Genesis for a Philosophy class called Protestant, Catholic, and Jew. I am obviously a Huge Mets and Dolphins fan.

So basically, I am willing to talk about anything there above, or anything your heart fancies -- sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll are all fair game

Can you briefly outline the proof of the falsity of the creation story? Were you trying to prove only that it couldn't literally be true?

yes, mostly the literal stuff

if i recall, my biggest beef was with the tree of knowledge

Whether it was a metaphor or not, it still does not make sense

for example, assume the tree was what it says it was. That Adam and Eve had no way to reason before eating from the tree. They did not know right from wrong or good from evil.
God tells them to eat from the tree
A serpent tells them not to
How do they know who to listen to if they do not yet know right from wrong or good from evil?
They listen to the snake, and get punished severly. If a 6 month old child does something wrong do you punish him? Of course not. Why not? Because he does not have the capacity to know right from wrong or good from evil yet. Since God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent .. he knows this already. So it would make absolutely no sense for him to punish Adam and Eve for listening to a serpent over him. Especially the harsh ridiculous punishments he gave -- "Because you disobeyed me, childbirth will be painful" .. wat? and to the serpent "because you tempted eve, you will forever crawl on your belly for now on." wat?

Also -- as soon as they ate from the tree they were embarrassed about being nude and covered themselves. This has been proven by science and nudist colonies to be impossible. Being naked is natural. Our society teaches us to be embarrassed, so some people are .. but it has nothing to do with our knowledge of reasoning, right and wrong, and good vs evil. So there is no way on Earth eating from the tree of knowledge would cause them to be embarrassed of their nudity.

The other theory is that the tree was not really anything special, and God said it was to test Adam and Eve. But then the embarrassing nudity thing makes no sense at all either

I wouldn't call this disproving eventhough I agree with what you're saying.

Should I be drafting Fins RBs, how about the QB?
What area of philosophy did you specialize in?

At Costco, I started as a boxer and worked my way up. I actually had supervisory experience from running the front end at foodtown, but Price Club (I worked for Price Club before they merged with Costco) hired everybody entry level. I became a cashier, worked a lot on the floor, and then because a front end supervisor, and then worked in various jobs at Costco; sales supervisor (computers/electronics/jewelry), floor crew supervisor, refunds/membership supervisor, return to vendor supervisor, receiving manager, and front end manager.

So basically i did the right thing and moved around a lot. I was recruited by Target -- who hires management mostly from the outside as opposed to Costco

Probably with fins rbs this year is i think they will be splitting time. Both Ronnie Brown and Ricky williams should be solid, but if Ricky remains healthy i dont know if either will break 1000 yards.

And no, i wouldnt touch a fins QB this year.

Metaphysics at the time -- but to be honest i havent thought about the Philosophy i studied in school in 15 years -- (i got my bachelor's in 1993)

the nudity part i think proves it to be impossible imo. The other parts can be interpretted many ways and doesn't prove anything per se, but is illogical for the God of the Bible.

As far as the 7 day creation vs evolutionism thing goes -- i do see how they can coincide assuming the definition of the word day is altered -- so i would not use that to disprove it

oh nez other advice if you are applying for a retail management job. If the employees do not have a union, and you are asked your feelings on unions on any job interview for management, you are dead against unions -- you feel unions only protect bad employees -- and you are sure this confident that this company treats their employees well and a union would hurt the good employees more than it would help them

Companies like Walmart and Target would close an individual store if a Union somehow got in it -- to prevent it from spreading to their other stores

Why did you leave CostCo?
Are you still at Target?
If compensation is disregarded, which job would you prefer and why?
What do you think are the best and worst things about the retail industry?
Have you had any serious relationships since 2005?
Have you had any casual ones?
If no to either or both of last two, why do you think that is the case?

I loved Costco. Well, it actually took me longer to get actual management then i wanted -- i was a well paid supervisor for many years. But i fought hard to get management, and i liked it. Target offered me significantly more money, and it was still a tough decision -- but for the money i had to leave

Quote:
Are you still at Target?
No i am working at a tutoring center during the week, and selling Verizon Fios at an electronics store on the weekends.
Oh so i can answer Verizon questions if people have them too

Costco hands down.
Costco is a great company to work for regardless of your position there. In some management positions you work a lot of hours there, but they still treat you well. They also treat employees well and give them excellent benefits.
Target did not treat me well -- and they certainly did not treat employees well. For example -- Costco guarantees their full timers 40 hours and part timers 25 per week. Target guarantees their full timers 30 hours and part timers 4 hours per week. This is one of many differences. Target was also not sympathetic to the medical issues my girlfriend started having which was the main reason i left -- but that could be my individual store

Quote:

Worst is obviously the hours. Work most holidays, weekends, nights.
Best is -- i enjoyed the interaction with customers a lot.

nope

just a few. Well -- i slept with one girl three times since 2005 -- and thats about it except for a casual date with someone here and there

definitely wasn't ready. Don't even know if i am yet. I went on a date last week, it went okay -- i mean i didnt feel a great spark or anything but we got along -- so we are supposed to go out again next week .. and we will see what happens. I think i am ready to move on -- or at least try

I'm thinking of flashing my Verizon V3m Razr to the Alltel OS because Verizon bastardized the phones by restricting their functions (OBEX being the main feature I want). What do you know about this?

not a lot
i deal with fios/internet/home phone and not with wireless
but i was selling fios at a wireless booth for a little while

yes verizon does things to their phones so that u need to buy stuff only through verizon. They think because they are the best service they can do that. There is no way around it.

they do not at all invite in unions

i will answer that in detail later

they actually treat their employees in nonunion stores better than they do in union stores to be honest

but like i said, i will expand later - going out for a bit

price club was mostly union - costco wasnt

when they merged -- all union buildings remained union and all non union buildings remained nonunion
twice a year -- all topped out hourly employees receive a bonus. The bonus is much bigger in non union stores than union (I believe it is about $2000 for nonunion stores and less than 1000 for union stores). I was hourly at the time of the merger, and i tried to vote out the union -- but didnt suceed.

Dont get me wrong, employees of costco are compensated well no matter what. With bonus, and working some sundays, a fulltime cashier can easily make 40k at either a union or nonunion costco

Why did you go into Philosophy and Math Ed?
I wanted to be a lawyer and didnt know what to major in. I took two philosphy classes and liked them and a professor told me, "Are you aware that the number 1 major for Harvard Law School students was Philosophy"
I wasnt exactly sure what i wanted to do, but i knew law was a possibility, so i declared philosophy as my major in my 4th semester. By the time i was near finishing, i was pretty sure i did not want to go to law school, so i got my degree and went full time at Costco "for a little while"

11 years later i decided i wanted to teach. I was sick of the grueling hours of retail. I was sick of my girlfriend having a 9-5 job and me working 2 or 3 nights per week and weekends. And i loved math and loved to teach. I did all the training in all my retail jobs

I went to my alma mater and said, "I did not take much math in college but i want to teach math. what do i have to do?"
They said since i got an A in Calc 1 and a B+ in Calc 2, i could go right into the math ed masters program. I was 4 credits shy though, so i went to suffolk community college a few summers ago and took a bs math course to satisfy the credits (cheaper than my school)

i think i always wanted to teach, but felt teachers didnt make any money

I was threatened a few times. I fired an employee at Target and he said, "I know what kind of car you drive, i'm going to kill you, you better watch your back when you leave every morning" SO i did fill out of police report. It is never fun to fire people. I personally probably had to fire about 20 people.

I dont know. Not even sure i believe that everyone has one. I vacillate.
If i have one, i think it is to make people feel good. People always come to me for advice, and i love to teach people.
