I haven't read much fiction in, like, forever, so my list of favorite books would date back to AP English class, which we know was about a thousand years ago.

My favorite movie is Harold and Maude. This is not close. My top five list would vary from day to day, but I'll flesh it out with Monsters Inc., Blade Runner, Lady and the Tramp1, and The Usual Suspects. I want to fit The Fifth Element in there, too.

I enjoy movies, but don't see them often. The year The Fifth Element came out my ex and I saw just about every movie, because we had to get out of my un-airconditioned apartment every afternoon, because she was very pregnant. We'd stay cool by either seeing a movie or playing pool. (Every time she missed a shot, she'd claim the baby had kicked her.) Since then, though, I've seen as many animated kid flicks as all other types, at least in terms of at the theater.

I don't watch TV much at all.

Re: The well: atakdog

1 (from above) A weird thing that I can't explain well: I can hardly stand watching people kiss, including in movies. I think I feel like it's invading on a moment of intimacy that should be private, and I don't want to do it — but maybe it's just that I'm inwardly twelve and think it's gross, who knows. I have no problem watching sex, and appreciate porn for example, but physical expression of love make me uncomfortable (to watch, not to do).

I think one reason I like Lady and the Tramp so much is that for whatever reason I can watch the spaghettin scene and appreciate how beautiful it is without getting embarrassed and having to close my eyes or turn away (which I otherwise would do), because they're dogs. This in turn is weird because I love dogs so much — I'll drop everything and plop down on the ground or floor if I meet a dog who seems to want to kiss my face or sit in my lap, for example — but apparently affection from or among them is OK to watch.

Y'all getting by now that I'm a little off-kilter?

Not in any formal sense. I strongly value order, and if I notice that the pictures on someone else's wall aren't straight or the coasters aren't aligned I'll probably fix them, but it won't really bother me if I can't.

My ex preferred things askew or asymmetrical; I strongly prefer symmetry in nearly all things. It was an odd little nugget of incompatibility.

You're aggressive without giving your reasonings often enough, and you haven't established a reputation for being valuable enough in the mid game that it's worth looking beyond that. Your fights with birdman don't help either. It's not so much that this is wolf sign as that you piss villagers off and they have no reason to believe you are going to clear yourself or be super-valuable, and no particular reason to believe you're not a wolf, so what the hell.

It's almost as if you think you get a day one or day 2 pass, so you can do anything you want — but you don't and you can't. When you're Scott Howard, of whom you remind me in some ways but who has a long-standing reputation for being incredibly good when he wants to be, then you don't get lynched or even wagoned early... but that takes years of solid play.

Nice — but not perfect.

I was strongly INTJ when I was younger, but a few years ago I took it again and had drifted from J to P. I think I'm a lot better now at viewing things holistically when it's warranted (though I'm still ridiculously analytical — this contributes to my difficulty in holding onto romantic relationships).

Fixed to apply to me (I'm an INTJ).

Possible solutions to this? Proposed solutions to this?

I don't think we're likely to be done in that regard until there's a solid teleological explanation for the whole thing. I other words, I as a human, anyway, will never fully accept it unless someone can give me some understanding of why the counterintuitive aspects of the world shoul be the way they are. I realize that there's no particular reason the structure of the universe should "make sense" to a collection of 100 billion electrochemical synapses, but I think if the theory were truly robust it might well be possible.

Of course, it was an is a briliant new way to view that world, but I don't think it's quite right.

Note that I have no real basis for believing this, and answered it only because you asked. I don't much like when people feel qualified to speak on scientific matters about which they really know very little. Few of us can gove meaningfully good answers to whether there is man-caused global warming, whether the conventionally defined big bang started the universe, whether species evolved over the past 3.5 billion years... we have to trust the experts, the ones who have studied it. Our way of analyzing the question should be to look for obvious holes in what they say, while considering carefully their apparent biases and agendas. Our own perceptions of the world need to take a backs seat once we're into phenomena that are too large or too small, in terms of time, space, or probability, for us truly to understand intuitively.

Try not to be an ass. Keep your analyses of her behavior to yourself. And look harder for the perfect match — some women (though it's rarer than in men) are quite comfortable with it (if you obey the first two sentences of this answer).

He's right that we all seem to have a tendency to assume everyone is like ourselves (as in me thinking men don't like red hair, apparently), but I'm with you here. I have heard so many men complain about women changing, and none, ever, complain about a woman who stayed the same. In terms of physical attractiveness at least, I am pretty sure your thesis is right for the great majority of men.

It's right in terms of sex, too, btw — it is more than just a myth that many women stop giving blow jobs once they get married (I have heard this personally from numerous men) and often like to have sex less frequently; the dropoff in oral sex in particular is the cause of resentment from the man in almost all cases. Even if this got replaced by other stuff (which isn't usually the case, but that's not my point), my impression is that the change itself bothers men, as they feel in a sense that they have been deceived.

maybe it's just me, but if i'm in a monogamous relationship, my partner having multiple different looks/changing her appearance acts as a small sop to my internal genghis khan fantasy.

Unsurprisingly, I won't answer the first question directly. I will tell you that there are so many people whose names I am happy see on the roster at the start of a game. Some of these are obvious (VR, KM, and Hitch, for example, though in each case I'd probably prefer just chatting with them to playing werewolf), some reflections of the challenge of playing against them (Shortline, Herbie, Scott Howard). Sometimes it's attitude, too — I think it's hard to play with Andynan and not smile a lot, for example. You on a good day are the same, though you have a lot of games where you seem not to be yourself.

I like playing with anyone who tries hard, though occasionally it can be frustrating because those same people tend to get blinders as villagers for some reason — mets, for example, or Luckay on one of the days when he gives a damn.

One that I want to mention is bernieshaw. In Ootown Delegation, his only game as far as I know, his "letters to wife" made me smile in a way no other player ever has. he took my theme and ran with it, and was so into the game — as a moderator one can't really hope for anything more.

I'm also mentioning BombayBadboy and Elliot here, though as with VR et al I think I like them more just as people than as werewolf players. (I have specific, private reasons in each case.)

Every single one? that's not what I want. As you know, I'd press it in a heartbeat if it left 100 million people alive...

Probably not when first given the bomb... I'd be afraid it was wrong. But a day would come when I would. I think it is at least fifty percent likely that humans are an experiment that is on the way to failure, by which I mean they are going to destroy most of the rest of the life they encounter; I'd like to try again.

Yes, that was it. You convinced me, really, but there was not enough for a consensus and no one was listening to you that game because of your early play.

Do you have to choose the 100 million people, or will a random 1% of the population be acceptable?

Targeting Hitch would likely have failed that day (at f7), and then Hitch would have known to night kill me, which he should have done two days (I think) earlier. I wanted him to keep up the FPS of leaving me alive. Also, had I been wrong — gotten Hitch lynched and he wasn't the wolf — BEG might have succeeded in leading a lynch of me the next day.

It wasn't guaranteed to work, but it looked like the best path.
