Wavelength Round 1: Team A vs Team B - Puzzles and Other Games Forum

Rules:

- 36h time limit for guessing the number, and 24h for higher/lower (after that, the last number mentioned will be your guess)
- 3 word limit, with the exception of proper nouns (eg Raiders of the Lost Ark would be an acceptable clue)
- Pictures and gifs are allowed
- No numbers allowed in any clue
- If an illegal clue is given, the opposing team will pick a new spectrum and the number will be re-randed

Point scoring:

4 points for correct number
3 points for 1 away
2 points for 2 away
1 point for correct higher/lower

It's some circus movie from the 40s or 50s, I think. I don't know a whole lot about it, but you never see it on best of lists or anything, and you don't really hear much about it these days. Pretty forgettable, I would say.

I doubt this is a 1, but anything from 2-8 wouldn't be that surprising. I like 4 still.

i think we have to go higher. this even has some 21 equity just cuz of the literal title lol

if i were guessing on their team i probably would have said around 4 too though... but 5 and 6 are more likely than 2 and 3 imo

and also the outside chance it's 21 lol

it was a high budget movie from the 50s iirc. and it was about a circus. i think it was a musical? not especially good. i think it had a lot of stars in it. and maybe like 3 hours long lol

i think very similar to "the greatest showman" with hugh jackman, but if for some weird reason that movie had been really popular and i guess won oscars lol

like if you had to clue for a one, what would you pick? it might be this. lol at this having 21 equity and 1 equity too lol... that's why i say higher, cuz this range is so wide, so go for the one with more numbers.

Speaking of I watched dances with wolves recently for the first time and it was much better than I would have guessed. Mostly liked him working around the camp not knowing what the **** was going on and trying to learn how to communicate.

My irl filthyvermin gives it a mixed rating because of the obvious versus being one of the first moves to cast actual natives in movies.

i liked that movie a lot when it came out, but i haven't seen it since then. i might feel differently now.

maybe one day we'll get a good movie made by indigenous people that is about those times.

Yeah sorry, I was between The Greatest Show on Earth (the consensus worst Best Picture of all-time) or Crash (which might be more meme-ish). I should’ve figured the potential implications of the title alone keeping it from being a good clue.

I also considered something like Harry and the Hensersons, which won Best Makeup (and the spectrum doesn’t specify Best Picture), but I wasn’t sure if that was too angly.

Crash was not that bad. No, it should not have won Best Picture, but it's not a WOAT winner.

The Shape of Water and Green Book are both easily worse.
