I have a different view of heavy. There are other topics that are more controversial (religion, politics, abortion).

There are other topics that are more complicated (philosophy).

Coronavirus is serious, but people are still making jokes about it. That's not true of the Holocaust, even though we're about 3 generations removed from it at this point.

I can get behind the 19 angle, but never see myself voting less than 19. 20 I can see with the holocaust as 21, but COVID is currently a "heavy topic," so there is some recency bias with COVID

The holocaust was horrific, but I don't see it as a heavy topic today.. There are like .001 holocaust denyers and everyone else knows/believes how awful it was. There is whole world on two sides to COVID (saving lives vs saving the economy), and that makes it pretty "Heavy" imo.

i'm not in this game, but then you could argue that it's never 19, and therefore makes the guess "easier". which, i agree, i'm sure was unintentional... but that's the type of clue this rule is trying to eliminate, so this discussion/metagame doesn't even occur

Do you know anyone whose future (work, health, business, financial certainty, K-12 education, access to services, university education, food et al supply chain, etc, etc) is not linked to COVID? I don't know anyone not impacted, or not expecting to be impacted by COVID. Not a single person.

Nuclear war? The planet being destroyed? Something like that. I feel like the extreme ends of the spectrum are very easy so if it’s not an obvious 21 or 1 it’s not those. Yes, right now it is the most important subject but he can clue for anything in the history of earth or the future of earth. Something about dying or the destruction of mankind of something is a much more obvious 21 than covid
