I think I like higher because I think it's more likely to be 6 than 4.

Even 7 is possible here, but I think it has almost no equity for 3.

Yeah, I'm on higher. 11 would be an average human speaking voice for me, purrs aren't THAT much quieter, and there's way better calls for the bottom end of the scale.

Hmm

I was leaning lower, but I could be ok with higher given what you've said

Where would you put "whisper" relative to purr? A lot of times when a cat's purring, you can't even really tell unless you're holding it

I am also leaning lower. And a normal human speaking voice should be lower than 11. It's not a "meow". It's a purr. 3 or 4 seems right.

a whisper is comfortably lower than a purr

some cats purring can be heard easily across the room

Purr definitely louder than a whisper I'd say...initial thought was around 5...my favorite guess is probably 6 since you could have some loud purrs(not that it's a giant part of my strategy since I'm mostly on the mission of trying to get points for us but it does make it harder on the other team as well - would be cool to incentivize winning individual games a little more)

21 would be some meme of the loudest sound ever. Maybe the big bang.
20 - atomic bomb
19 - a rocket launch
17/18 - a jet engine or a crowded stadium after the home team scores
15/16 - a rock band playing at a bar or a crowded theater laughing
12/13/14 - an adult yelling, a baby crying, a car engine revving, a lawn mower
11 - birds chirping. dogs barking.
10 - a person laughing or sneezing. a cat screeching.
9 - a person speaking
8 - crickets at night
7 - running water in a sink. a toilet flushing.
6 - a cat meowing
5 - tv volume when i'm trying to fall asleep
4 - a cat purring. playing cards riffling.
3 - human whispering. a car window opening or closing.
2 - leaves rustling
1 - one hand clapping

I prefer lower, I think a purr is a 4, and I do think it has some 3 equity. I think it could be 6 though so whatever you guys want is ok with me

We can use modifiers right? So he could have said a quiet purr for like a 2. Nich is also the kind of guy who might say purrrrr or capitalize the P to make it louder. I quite like under actually

Assuming modifiers are allowed and capitalizing etc I think this is 4 usually

He couldn't have said "a quiet purr" regardless bc it's a modifier indicating intensity along the spectrum

See, I am much more likely to hear a whisper from across the room than a purr

You're hanging out with some loud-ass cats

Looks like we have a soft majority for lower? Doesn't seem like any of us feel that strongly about it.

Ah true. Dunno if he can angle shoot how many rs or if it is if capitalizing is a thing.

It was 4

Purr 25 decibels, whisper 30db

I shoulda done soft purr

I also considered light drizzle on grass but that seemed higher variance
